Help! Just got back from a mild off road trip today and now I can hear a loud creaking noise when I turn the steering wheel. It's coming from near the steering rack, behind the front skid plate. Possibly lower control arms? Really hoping it isn't the steering rack as I'm not aggressive off road at all.

    You guys have any suggestions?

Definitely not the uniballs. That's the first thing I checked and they're all cleaned up and lubed with tri flow, still creaks like crazy. The noise is heard evenly on both sides of the truck and centered behind the skid plate. I can feel the creak through the steering wheel and through the truck when I slowly turn the wheel.

Appreciate the reply. Gonna clean it up the rest of the way tomorrow morning.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
Smear some grease on your steering stops and the noise will stop. The stops are rubbing up and down. Common problem.

i have this problem on my sports car when i replaced the sway bars and end links. Could be bad end links or even the bushings.

I get a creaking/groaning noise when turning at low speeds. It usually happens when my wheels go over a bump or drop into a depression. Best I can tell it is coming from my LCA bushings. I have read on here that it is a common occurrence with them.

Torqued down everything up front one by one until it stopped squeaking. Ended up being the cam bolts!

Thanks again for the inputs guys! Hopefully if someone else has a similar issue they'll find this thread.

I can't answer why they were loose other than the last alignment I got they didn't tighten them down all the way?
I did put some anti sieze on them and torqued to 100 ft lbs

If I bought a new Tacoma today, the first thing I would do when I got it home is to get the greasable LCA arm bolts, or pack a shit ton of Lucas Red N Tacky in the bolt holes. Five and a half hours to cut the 4 bolts out after they seized sucked.

Thread revival, any news from anyone on what it is/was other than cam bolts?
If turning at 0-2 MPH it happens it seems it would be something other than cam bolts, I could be way off, however I now have 2 squeaking Toyotas and I cannot pin it down. Thanks

I believe I have pinned mine down & it took a while, every time I jacked it up to see where the sound was coming from it would disappear so it's been a process. After spraying the uni balls on both my Toyotas it goes away then returns in a week or so, at the moment I am searching a long lasting product that does not attract dirt/grime. I'm guessing this is part of "upgrading the suspension"

I have to blast my TC UCA uniballs with dry moly lube ever time I wash the truck or when the sound returns.

My Desert Racing UCA's never had this issue no matter what.

Scratch what I posted above with regards to this issue. Only solved my uniball squeak.

I have the same problem as heard in this previous posted video:

It sounds like it's coming from the center of the steering rack or at least directly underneath the skid plate.

I am going to remove the plate as per @DoorDing 's suggestion and go from there. I'll either keep this thread updated or create a new one and post the link here.
