I'm looking to get a new lightbar for the bumper of my truck. The rough country one that I have is alright, but leaves something to be desired. My bumper (Victory 4x4 Blitz) has a slot for a 20" light bar.

My question is whether or not the DD Stage series 18" light bar is any good? I just can't find any in depth reviews on it. Does anyone have any personal experience with that size? I'm looking at the combo pattern, or possibly spot.

Also, amber vs clear. Mine is clear right now, and I would like amber for the dusty trails out here in the desert. I'm just worried I may lose distance projection with the amber.

Thanks for reading my convoluted post, any info will be happily taken. Thanks!

I have a 12" clear lensed/white light DD stage bar. You can see a picture of it "in action" on two different roads in the SAE J581 driving light thread stickied at the top of this subforum, along with lots of other comparisons and tests of other lights. My pics are on page 14, iirc.

That looks great! I see it was the driving optic, I know the combo isn't available on the 12", but would you reccomend that, or should I stick with the driving optic?

I think the driving lens provides plenty of width, even on slower twisty backroads. On an 18" bar you could do the two outer sections as the driving lens and the inner as the "fog"/wide pattern, if you wanted to try a combo mix without losing too much distance illumination.

Just to reassure you..i had the 18inch bar as well. It packs a pretty serious punch for the size. I had all driving in white and did experiment with different lenses. I would go with what toyrunner said and swap out the middle lens for a wide pattern if you wanted more of a combo.

I know you said you had white, but whats your opinion of amber? What made you choose the white over amber?

Just ordered the Stage Series 18" Light bar in Amber with the driving lense. Took advantage of their 15% off sale, and Honey got me free shipping! I will update when it comes in.

I tried amber for a while. Its still good output, but it is a true amber and not selective yellow like their pods. True amber is odd, it has too much red. You cant really tell colors of things on the trail. So you might want to mix in a white lens to bring up the color temp. Good thing those lenses are dirt cheap. I run 4000k ss3s along with their selective yellow ss3s. This works better in my opinion.

Also, I've got the amber Morimoto XB fog lights, and it is a "true amber" as well. I kind of like it.

Well thats great of you like the color. Less money to spend lol. I would just order several lenses your curious about and try different combinations. You might be suprised what you like. I remember i swapped for two white and one amber all in driving. Still "cooler" color temp than halogen, but closer to that 4000k color that i was looking for.
