I'm going to ditch my old pop-up camper I think- If I do, I'd like to get an in-bed tent. So, if you use one, please let me know what it is and where you got it- would you recommend it/what's good or bad.
NO- I'm not going to get an RTT, bars, etc. I don't go offroading- this would simply be to take the girlfriend or my son off for a weekend without towing a trailer yet NOT sleeping on the ground- I'm getting older and that's simply not happening anymore!

    Thanks for all replies.

Softopper, Add a couple of Therma-Rest pads and some mosquito netting!

A Coleman gas stove and a pair of lawn chairs.

I really like my Rightline Gear truck bed tent. I have a tonneau and this one doesn't have a floor, so the tonneau gets folded up and turns into a nice shelf. I added LED strip lights, basically a DIY Matt Gecko LED setup.

Setup is 5 minutes or less. Only downsides, it fits TIGHT on the truck, you have to tighten a strap there, loosen a strap here until it fits right. Closing the door is tough until you do. There's a gap around the tailgate opening, but very small and easily mitigated. Like I said, I like it.

What he said. I got a Bedrug lined bed a Rightline tent with a Bakflip tonneu and I like the setup. It's nice to have the tonneau to keep all the dust out of the bed plus having a shelf and even if forget my sleeping pad I just throw down a couple sleeping bags.

I still say softopper with modified tiny awning. Perfect to keep the sun out . My poor man's set up .poor man's awning too . Perfect for summer camping. Just finished installing mosquito net . 20230622_120234.jpg 20230622_120015.jpg 20230622_120005.jpg

His rightline description is accurate, from my exp.,
There's 2 straps on the inside by the taillights that hook underneath before trying to get the entrance fitting, otherwise, you might do like I did and
tear it by pulling to hard on an external rear fender strap.
Other than that it beats getting a wet arse on the ground.
A double air mattress fits nicely between the wheel wells of the truck but with age crawling up into a pickup doesn't get easier either. Bring a solid step stool.
I was looking at a Coleman electric cooler on Amazon. Screenshot_20230622_141558_Amazon Shopping.jpg
