My wife, who is 78, has a hard time climbing up and in my new 2021 Tacoma 2 Door Access Cab SR model.

I would prefer a single step type, something like the Bully brand, but not necessarily that brand. They look like they may not the easiest to attach.

Will not be using the truck for any offroading but we do get a lot of snow living about a mile from the south shore of Lake Ontario if that matters.

    Any recommendations FOR and/or AGAINST.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Here’s the step I put on mine for my wife, she’s only 5’1” and these are easy to unbolt when I go off road. They are made by CARR.

    Captain,

Those are nice looking steps. Just about what I'd like. How was the installation process?

    Great picture, great looking truck.

    Thank you.

Very simple install. Anybody with a drill and a few wrenches can do it.

By the way, if you decide to off road make sure that you remove them. I’ve found broken ones on the trail. Even tried to convince the wife that we needed a good set of sliders instead of the step when she found the broken one where we camped. That road wasn’t what I’d call difficult wheeling. Here’s the camp site.

    Captqc,

Is that some place in Nevada?

We won't be doing any off roading but others might and I'm sure they will appreciate your advice.

Looks like a good option. Do you have to drill to put them in? I am too scared to drill into my frame. :)

Given his location, I'm guessing that pic might be in Oregon. They have quite a bit of desert wilderness up there in the Beaver State.

    OP,

I was researching to help you and came across these kinds of steps but you have to drill to put them in. Similar to the one suggested above:
    https://www.extremeterrain.com/carr...VD7SzCh22bQS0EAQYASABEgK0KvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

But it might be weird to have just one step on the passenger side, I think.

Have you considered a simple side step. There are some nice big ones that don't look to bad and will balance out the truck. Very easy to install -- even I was able to do it:
    https://runningboardwarehouse.com/p...to-wheel-running-boards/v/toyota/tacoma/2020/

Lots of good options out there that require no drilling and could be really useful for both of you.

There are a number of steps out there but you have to drill into the truck to install them -- which is why I favor the side steps:

    https://runningboardwarehouse.com/p/carr-ld-hoop-step-xp3-black/v/toyota/tacoma/2020/

Poke around Running Board Warehouse and see if you see something that looks good. Lots of low priced options that give you more than one step but I think they will be easier to install and give you a nice look to the truck.

    Hope that helps ! :)

Boy Oh Boy, that helps a lot.

I did a quick look at those options. Going to take some closer looks. Prefer minimum holes if possible. Lots to consider.

Thanks for the time you put into this and Reply. Much appreciated.

Nope, eastern Oregon. Glass butte, basically a mountain of obsidian.

    Jolly,

My pleasure. Happy to help a fellow NYer. You probably have more snow than me!

I really think you will be better off with a nice step on both sides. I put in a pair for under $300 (you can go much lower) and the install was easy. They provide the bolts and you screw them into places right on the truck.

    The pro with this approach:

    1) Cost is not bad. $200 to $300.
    2) Intall is easy. No drilling.
    3) Looks good and balances on both sides of the truck.
    4) Better coverage. You have a long step and don't risk missing with just a small step.

Might work for you ... and running board warehouse has a ton of options ...

    :)

    JP,

Yes, I would have them on both sides.

I like the idea of "bolt on" with no extra holes but I would like the shorter steps.

I've got to do looking on the Running Board Warehouse. Many options there.

Not too much snow here. 12 - 15 inches in most places. One inch in our 700 foot long driveway. Very tolerable.

Waiting for a thaw to pack it down so I can get some firewood cut.

    Thanks again. Much appreciated.

    All the best.

    Jolly
