Can anyone recommend a shop to install a lift in the DFW Area? Garland/Sachse/Plano are specifically. I have a Bilstein/OME kit in route and was thinking of using 4 Wheel Parts in Plano unless there is a better place out there.

Man, they are a ways out there. Really looking for something a bit closer.

Goode’s is fine, but Tandem is the go-to.

What’s the lift consist of? Most aren’t too hard if you supply food and drinks.

I'm leaning more towards doing it myself. It's a Bilstein 5100/OME 887 kit with a AAL in the rear. It looks super easy, and I've done most of my own installs in the past. I figure if I can do full coilovers and upper control arms on my 370Z I can do this right?

    Yes.

Are your coil overs already assembled?
    Are you doing UCA’s?

Those are the most time consuming parts.

No UCA's and I did pay to have the coils pre-assembled. What's the going rate to have these installed? I've gotten old and lazy but once I see the install price that may motivate me to tackle it myself. Any surprises I should watch for. I think the Tacoma is pretty similar to the Nissan Frontier suspension. I did change the shocks out on my 2015 Frontier I had previously.

    It shouldn’t be bad then.
Careful that you don’t stretch the brake cable when you’re getting everything disconnected.
Putting the truck on jack stands gives you additional height and room to flex the LCA to create space.

@Suprajim54 might have more to add, but your lift can be done in a day on your driveway.

Okay, awesome. Loosening and dropping LCA down was going to be the way I went about it as it looks the easiest.

I would recommend the way you suggested of loosening and pushing down on LCA. Your brake line "should" be fine, but watch the ABS wire. You might need a jack under the LCA when you go to bolt it back to the spindle. Preassembled coils/shocks can be done in about 90mins for me, including the time to take wheels off. I've got SPC UCA's which make things much easier without messing with LCA. If you've done coilovers on your 370, this should be a breeze. Just be sure to get an alignment and adjust your headlights afterward.

I vote do it yourself. If i can do it watching a Youtube video in 2 hours then anybody can.

Edit: I only did the fronts but the rears looks even easier.

I guess I missed the part about you doing the rear AAL. It's still within the capabilities of the shade tree mechanic. Lift the rear as high as you can and put jackstands under the frame, allowing the axle to hang down. Put a jack under the the diff. Loosen bolt under the bump stops holding the leaf pack together and lower the jack. This should allow you to squeeze the AAL above the overload leaf. Getting the center hole of each leaf lined up was the biggest frustration for me. I used the old bolt inserted from the top to help line them up. Then I took a couple C Clamps to compress the leaves back together. Insert new bolt from the bottom and tighten the nut on the top.

Thanks a bunch guys! Feeling more and more confident and motivated! My kit should be here tomorrow. Looks like I have my 4th project next week.

One last thing once the AAL is in, I've always had trouble getting the axle back in the correct position. I use a ratchet strap around the axle and connect the hooks near the shackle. Crank that ratchet strap until the axle is in position and the head of the leaf pack bolt drops in the hole in the axle.

I am 100% doing the install myself but just thought I'd share a couple of quotes I got. A local Hot Rod/Alignment shop quoted right at $1000 for install and alignment. I know, I almost spewed my drink out all over my laptop screen laughing. 4 Wheel Parts in Plano wants just under $900 for the same. Are these places insane or what?

    They seem like it.
You could reach out to Tandem, Aaron Smith, or Goode to see what those shops say.

I would recommend the three I mentioned above a random hotrod shop anyway...

No need, I'm doing it myself. I had reached out to the above mentioned places before making my mind up.

Install has been postponed since Rogue Off-Road hasn't shipped my front 5100/OME 887 assemblies yet:mad: I was hoping to do this install Thursday the 4th and Friday.
