I use the flash light on my phone. One of my trucks has a factory hood light which I disconnected after I noticed it was turning-on when I parked it on an incline (which is where I park that truck every night). About the only time I find I could use an under hood light is if I'm jump-starting someone at night and I generally try to avoid doing that whenever I can.

    YMMV

I carry something similar to this, but there are many options for portable led work lights with magnetic base.

    More versatile all around imo.

Maybe try and wire up a retractable light from the 80-90’s Chevy. Should be pretty inexpensive . My 89 and 95 each had one, very handy.

I have this light too and it is really nice. Especially since the battery is removable so you can swap it and keep going.

I too, use Harbor Freight lights in all my vehicles and around the house. Only I go for the freebies, lol

The name brand Astro price is a tough pill to swallow but I imagine they’re better than my 15$ imports lol. I’m glad u like em man, that’s awesome.

ETA that I carry a 2.5" steel disc in the toolbox for when I'm working somewhere that's non magnetic. Use it like a little counterweight.

Embarrassingly, I don't own a quality shop light. I make do with a couple really bright flashlights and a shitload of these.
I probably need to work on my priorities.

I will gladly pay for quality/performance. $60 for 2 and a wireless charger isn’t that bad IMO.

KC Cyclone is what I would use if I was going to put a hood light under the Taco hood.
