    Lots--
Whats up taco lovers?? I just ordered a JL Audio Stealthbox (SB-T-TACDCG3/10TW3)
    SB-T-TACDCG3-10TW3-IC.jpg
I want to find an amp that can really push the sub but also power front and rear speakers. Will probably upgrade the speakers but the truck is basically brand new--- will probably just amp stock speakers and see how they sound first. Any ideas on a good 5 channel that would fit under either front seat or behind the other single rear seat??

Thanks guys!! Posting my MBRP XP Turn down exhaust install later today. Only took an hour to do. Cheers--

I thought the Stealth boxes all came with their own amp. :notsure:

Nope. Just a box with a speaker mounted in it

Nope-- just a custom fit fiberglass enclosure that fits like a glove without any cutting and a solid w3--- can either bridge a 2 channel or get a mono or 5 channel. Lots of options but I want to install just one amp--

If you’re keeping the factory radio, I would consider an amp with a DSP built in. This will let you clean up the signal from the factory radio, as well as add time alignment and all the fun stuff.

something like the Kicker IQ 1000.5
JL has some offerings like that as well. Just want to make sure the sub channel can do at least 400w RMS

If you don’t want to utilize a DSP, or have plans on upgrading the head unit sometime soon, I have been using the Kicker KXA 800.5 for a few years and amp very happy with it. But all the major brands make 5 channel amps. Most of them will fit in either location you mentioned.

Mine came with an amp, didn’t install it myself though, went through crutchfield. Pretty sure it’s also a JL, she bumps. It’s pouring rain but once it stops I’ll go check on the model specs.

Interesting--- I bought mine on Crutchfield and it doesn't say anything about coming with an amp. Sunny as hell here in N Texas. Where you at?

This one is discontinued and from what I have seen very little amps even talk about DSP---- I don't have the JBL system or anything fancy. I don't want to replace the stock unit because it looks so clean. Will probably just get something without it--- maybe even just a simple mono amp with 400RMS for the sub for now.

That’s probably what I would do if you’re reasonably satisfied with the stock sound. Or if you’re trying to stick with a budget. Because if you add an amp to the factory speakers, they will all blow almost immediately. The first time you try and “turn it up” they’ll be toast. So if you add an amp, you should budget for speakers. And while the doors are off for speakers, you might as well do sound sound deadening.

it turns into a pretty big project really quick lol

I got amp but it probably won’t fit that set up there. Could probably put them under the seats. But all of these will be a major project.

Yeah definitely I will do all that eventually. Will probably start with a mono amp then.

Went with a mono amp--- waiting on stealthbox to ship from JL now. I'll post pics of the setup soon. Already replaced the tweeters in the dash with these subaru tweeters-- same fit as the crappy ones that came with the truck. HUUUGE differencefor such a tiny speaker. The old ones were paper and barely put out sound...

As far as an amp I hopped on Crutchfield and ordered a:

    Kicker 44KXA400.1
    Mono subwoofer amplifier — 400 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms

I will post pics when it's all setup but I got the amp setup and ready to go; just need to pop in the fuse and plug in the Stealthbox and we :taco:bumpin' :taco:

I also bought the Stealthbox for my access cab. I comes with a 10" DVC@2ohms sub installed but no amp. Now I'm searching for a suitable 5-channel amp that won't break the bank and will be replacing all 4 door speakers due to the power restriction of stock. Too bad so many bad vibes against "TT" since they have perfect Tunes for Tacomas and factory plug-n-play wiring harnesses ($$$). I just ordered their under-seat amp rack as a test because I won't drill into the floor. I asked a BestBuy installer about mounting amps and he said they pull the passenger seat out, it's easy, only 4 bolts...so guess I will try that myself!

    Adventures can be fun...

I'm got a Pioneer GM-D9705 installed under my driver seat mounted to a piece of ABS. 75 watts into the door speakers and 600 watts into a Rockford P3D4-12 in a box sitting on the floor behind the driver seat.

Definitely thinking about going for the Stealthbox but I wish I can just get the box so I can use my own sub.

Might call the Stealth Audio folks and see if you can buy just the box itself. I heard they were custom made one by one for every order, it took a month or two to get mine.

you have to keep in mind as well this was designed for a JL 10TW3 as well so you would need a similar sized shallow mount subwoofer, i know when i was looking at getting a replacement as my original subwoofer went out there were very limited options. ended up just getting another 10TW3
