    Hi all -

Looking for options for a 33" diameter "skinny" tire, i.e. ~10" width, for a 17" rim.

255/80/17 is what I've been looking at but options are pretty limited, maybe only 4 different tire options that fit this description.

Has anyone used this tire size? Tips on best tire brand for this size?

    Thanks,
    Jason

If having the 3 peak snow designation is important to you, the Wildpeaks A/T tires aren't too bad looking. E Load tire, like the rest of them.

Although you are correct that it is a short list for this size, there are some solid choices. Depending on what you are wanting to do with the vehicle, there might be one better suited for your needs. PM on the way.

We would recommend checking out the other threads linked as well. Lots of great info and recommendations within them.

I've ran the ST MAXX in that size and was very happy.

Don’t forget the 255/75R17 size…. Yeah 32.1” on my FJ wheels but they are so close!

It’s the Jeep Rubicon stock size and there are lots of tires made in that size and some are lighter because they are offered in a standard load.

Here is a presorted link to both of those sizes.

    255/85R16 / 255/80R17 | Discount Tire

You may have to select "Continue without vehicle" But under this search the "front" is the 255/85 and the "rear" is the 255/80

There may be a few other options out there that are not on this list which we can special order. But here is the majority of them.

If you would like us to check into stock for a specific option please feel free to shoot us a pm.

A regularly overlooked option in 255’s is the Mastercraft Courser CXT. I’ve had a set for a couple thousand miles now and I have no complaints whatsoever with them.

They are great until they start to wear uneven, which is my driving, not the tires lol...

Off road as far as general use and dirt road travel I love em, I am not a hard core wheeler though.

I have to remember when motoring around my buddies property to remember if i spin tires I am digging!
My old Hankooks were A/T and they would mostly just slip on wet grass and stuff. These dig and dig quick!

My next tire will be the Duratrac in the same size as I am driving more for work and could use a quieter/lighter tire for a while.

Hi all - thanks for the replies.

I decided to go with the Toyo Open Country IIIs. Pairing these with the 17" TRD Pro wheels (bronze) and new Bilstein 6112 up front and 5100s in back. Going to start with *no lift* in the back and leveling up front - we'll see what happens! If needed, I'll lift the rear 1" and go from there.

33x10.5x17 Kenda rts! Ran them for a tank of gas before switching to the 35x10.5s. Have now had the tires on for 50k miles, and have put them through literally everything. Hood deep snow, rocks, mud, etc. Still fairly quiet on the street and handle wet roads well.

33" Toyos, zero rear lift, 2.2" in front. Loving the stance so far.

Just got some 255/80/r17 falken wildpeaks on today! I'm coming off the 265/75/r16 falken wildpeaks which I loved so sticking with the same tire in the taller and skinner version. Haven't put em through the paces yet but liking the way they look so far!

I'll add another vote for the Kenda 33x10.5xR17 RT's. I have little under 20,000 miles on mine and have been wearing fantastic! They grip well in the snow and rain and I feel are pretty quiet for a tire of this type. I'll defiantly be getting another set only in 35's.
