    Hi everyone,

    I am about a year and a half to two years out for trading in the 2019 Tundra off lease for my tacoma. Just dont need that big of truck anymore and the gas milage with the 5.7 liter

    I usually buy certified used and I know a lot has changed since I owned my 2010.

    I do not go off road but I do live in a country town and do have a 1400 foot long dirt driveway and live with a ton of trees everywhere.
    Also being a Volunteer Fire police for my town i go right to the scene in my pov so I need to be able to get there through bad weather and what ever mothet nature throws at me.

    I am debating between a trd sport, trd offroad, and the limited trim models.
    I need durability as I run into all sorts of stuff on calls from down trees and wires to blocking roads to sometimes having to protect hose runs in some strange places as we dont have hydrands out here.
    I need durability, deep snow driving is a must and I plan on really good tires for that but also as a daily driver want some creature comforts.

    I also have never had a rear locking differential so not sure how pro or con that might be for my situation.

    Any and all advice, comments, suggestions ect are welcome.
    I would love to hear the good the bad and the ugly about those 3 trim levels and it would be the bigger cab and short bed.

    Thank you all and sorry this is so long.

    Limited = Boomer truck

    Sport = Gym Bro truck

    Off Road = Normal guy truck

    SR5 = I'm leasing this truck

    SR = I wanted a higher level trim, but was shopping by monthly payment

    Get an Off Road and then secure a scooped hood. Your search is over.

    Offroads ride "softest" limited next, and sports ride the most firm. This is a big deal for some people like me. The offroad has soft shocks and thicker tires resulting in what I consider a much smoother ride.

    The sport is the most popular trim level, it is mostly cosmetic, but has sharper handling shocks.

    The limited is a simple upgrade, the leather is hit and miss, its not very soft and has an odd texture not everyone likes.

    I would chose the offroad again if I were to buy another Tacoma, the ride was much better and its nice to know you have the offroading features, even if you only do service roads/logging roads.

    Get the off road. When I got mine literally the exact same price as a sport.

    Better tires will be a massive help. If you ever needed a locker you'll sure as shit be happy you have it. Other than that honestly it is the same truck minus small shit. The biggest being the locker already mentioned.

    Summary get the OR. You'll be glad you did.

    Based on reading your post, TRD Off Road is the trim that comes to mind. Just my opinion.

    If only OffRoad came with a long bed, i wouldve gotten that trim. They only had Sport LB then and i like the look of it bettee than the SB. I mean also, i live in the city and most of the time ill be driving in paved roads 99% of the time anyway so the Sport trim was perfect for me. The OffRoad was a bit bouncier and i didnt really like it much...

    Not to /thread you, but only you are going to be able to decide what is the right one for you. I drove the sport, off road and limited and that told me everything I needed to know about what style of truck I wanted.

    You do have specific needs so off road sounds like a good choice when it comes to emergency work but will it be the right daily driver? Once again, only you can figure that out.

    That's not true. I have a Sport and the only time I go by the gym is when there is a train crossing and I take a different route to work. :rofl:

    That being said, The OR is a better value.

    Off Road. With Prem package if you want creature comforts. Throw in tech/adv tech if you want those goodies.

    I had a '13 sport for nearly 6 years. It wasn't bad by any means, but if I had to do it again, I'd get the OR for the extra features (kinda how I ended up with a Pro anyway).

    We're dumb, ostentatious and bad at managing our money ;) aka the Chads of TW :D:p

    Test drive for yourself. It’s not just trim differences.

    I went 4x4 Sport because I hated the soft suspension of the Off Road. Also, the plastic fender flares look cheap to me (especially on a black truck). Rear locker is a cool feature but I’d rather have a mechanical one than the one Toyota offers, and can add one for cheap.

    Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
    I would swap these two.
    Sport = Gym Bro truck

    Some tweaks to Itchy's formula based on Socal area:

    Pros = Gym bro truck
    Limited = Pseudo-well off, burb-dwelling Boomer truck
    Off-road = "My first taco"/"I'm ex military"/normal guy truck
    Sport = "I work construction and can't wait to go surf after work"
    SR5 = Lease truck or "I'm retired and can't wait to take the motorhome out next weekend to AZ"
    SR = I wanted a higher trim but was shopping by monthly payment
