Making this thread to share my process of rebuilding my 3rd gen Tacoma after a rollover. I’ll be rebuilding the truck better than it was before hopefully. The rear frame rails bent right where they start to angle up from behind the cab. It’s a weak point known in any frame rail truck. I should’ve plated and reinforced that area more so than it was. Anyways we’ll be cutting the frame rails from the transmission crossmember and redoing the to the back of the cab. Then we’ll back half the rest and tie it all into the cab cage and engine cage. Finally we can locate where shocks should be mounted and bump it out where needed. Aiming to race the truck hopefully by this spring 2025. Tag along for a wild build about to go down. Plenty of badass long travel trucks on this website that people have built over the years and dedicated tons of their time to get their trucks to the level they’re at now, hopefully I can say the same soon! Any help from you guys is appreciated, don’t ever hesitate to teach me a thing or two, I’ll always hear you out.

    Is that Johnson Valley?

https://tedesigns.com/ makes a cage for your truck if you want to order something thats ready to weld up. It comes in three sections, engine cage, cab cage and back half.

Oh yea I bought his cage kit a few months back. Got it all welded in. It’s race spec too so should pass inspection for most series.

Hey man glad to see it coming back together! I'm the one who commented on your video "cage it before you roll it" like a week before you took the tumble. If I jinxed it, my bad :bananadead:. Just glad you're embracing it and doing some great work! You've really been getting it done quick too.

Are you going to run a back seat or leave it empty?

Eventually yea I’ll either do a single or dual rear seats. For now probably use the space to store most of my tools etc in Milwakee pack outs mounted to the cage and various spare parts.

Plenty of people warned me about rolling the truck, wasn’t just you bud don’t worry. It’s bound to happen when you’re pushing a truck beyond its limits. The 4 link with added up travel and full cage will make for a much more responsive and reliable setup for what I was trying to do on crutches before.

You'll love the full cage. I haven't finished the engine cage yet, but having a cab cage and back half already transforms it. Engine cage will just further stiffen and add control. You using the TE back half or designing your own? Do you have your link design all ironed out? Assuming trailing arm 4 link based on where you live?
