My locking lugnut key stripped out…any ideas. It’s a McGard. Going to just get rid of the these damn things at this point but I’ve got no way of getting them off now

Weld a nut on if you have a welder .

Take it to a friend with a welder .

i swear those things are more of a pain

I use an air chisel, which isn't standard fare for most guys at home.

There are extractor sets, but honestly just take it to a tire shop and they'll bust them off for you quick.

Yeah I’ve got a welder. Was hoping it wouldn’t come to that.

I lost my lug nut key... :censored:

Then I bought a set of Twist Sockets (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076WQMSVB?ie=UTF8) you bang them on with a BFH, and then spin them off. Worked on all four of my properly torqued locking lug nuts. No welding, etc..

    replaced with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RX356D2?ie=UTF8

If you were local in SD, I'd tell ya to swing by with a case of beer.

Welding should not be required for removing locking lug nuts, you can use the correct tool twist/turbo sockets or you can hammer on normal sockets that are a hair smaller then remove the socket with the lug nut and beat it out the socket

Anyone got a link to a set of lug nuts I have no idea what I’m even looking at. I believe mine are OEM

Those locking ones I linked to are the same style as OEM...

    OEM look like:

Just hammer a 19mm socket on to the lug nut. it should be tight enough to loosen the nut. before you unthread it all the way wiggle the socket off the lug nut and then do that 3 more times.

I think if you saw how rusty the locking lugnuts were it'd be apparent why there was an issue. They weren't stainless, chrome plated or anything, just lots of rust and they've got 160000 salty miles on them

Those are steel wheels those don`t use the short shank lug nuts like the aluminum wheels that everyone is linking to

grind out a little of the outer ring and make the center more of a hex that will fit a socket :)

Just beat a 19mm impact socket on it and take it off, you'll have to beat the locking lug out the socket then move on to the next locking lug. I've done it many times without issue on that style of locking lug.
