Locking gas cap

Has anyone found a locking gas cap for the ‘24 that doesn’t throw a CEL?

 

You do you, but some lost gas is preferable to a damaged gas inlet/orifice. Those determined to get the gas won’t be stopped by a locking cap.

 

I was hoping for one that wouldn’t damage the inlet/orifice.

Then again, if you're the only vehicle on the block with a locking cap, more likely that scumbags will bypass your truck for one of many other easier targets in the vicinity.

 

People still steal gas? Figured all the anti siphon plugs would have stopped that.

 

The assumption is stealing gas. It could possibly be to prevent any other liquids from going into the fuel tank.

MotoRad MGC791. It has the highest success rate amongst all the aftermarket locking caps (about 60% according to Amz ratings).

If you have two vehicles, there's an SKU MotoRad MGC791SK which includes two caps keyed alike, so one key works on both vehicles.

That's unfortunate, if true.

I've had mine on for years with no problems, but figured I'd be able to pick up another if one ever arose. Might be time to buy a spare or two just to have them on hand.

Stant 10504 has been discontinued for over a year. You'll most likely get a knockoff as the Walmart marketplace seller has a generic name "GlamourAvenue".

MGC791 as the superseding P/N, so most legit part stores will ship you an MGC791 if you order the Stant.

Following up on this. I went to two O'Reilly stores on opposite sides of Michigan last week. They both had Stant 10504 in stock, but in a new design similar to the Motorad. The key is double-sided. You need to manually lock it after tightening.
