going to be ordering the CBI Overland rack for my 22 long bed soon. Anyone ever see a locking or theft resistant rod holder or tube that can be mounted to this rack? ive searched the forums fairly diligently but have not seen much on this topic.

I have never owned one, but I knew several guys that have those Thule "Rod Vaults" attached to the top of their truck and they do the job! There is another one called "River Quiver" but I have no knowledge of that brand. But brace yourself; these things can be a bit pricey! I personally just break my fly rods down when I am done fishing and put them back in their rod tubes to lock them in the truck. But I can see how these roof top vaults might be nice to have if you are driving from one spot to the next on a river.

the issue im finding with most of these box's are that they are never long enough for my needs. i ocean fish with a 10ft rod most of the time. i need it to be 10+ft

Depending on how much you want to spend and the level of security you want there are many different options. I personally just use a pair of ski racks. They lock, but are not very secure as someone can just take the reel or cut the foam and pull the rod out.

You can go from a pvc tube with a locking cap to a yakima rod locker to the scute from australia.

I can get 6 with the reels on the rods. I might be able to fit 1 or 2 more. Im using an 8' length of PVC.
just need to stagger them as you put em in. i do 3 baitcasters reels first, and then rod tips first, 2 baitcasters, then 1 spinning last.
I also use rod sleeves and reel socks so they are protected.
Im using freshwater gear, so its not quite as bulky as your 10' rod,

sounds like you just figured out my solution :p... i regularly carry about 3 rods with me.. one conventional avet mx raptor on a 10 ft rod. a a bait caster and a spinning rod. sounds like it wont be a issue as all 3 are different length rods.

im lazy and dont want to have to reset my conventional's that dont have seats every time i fish :p

Looks awesome! How do you secure the tube to the truck?

Its relatively inexpensive compared to the other solutions on the market. Just as secure, but anything can be defeated with will and time.
keep in mind, i use bass gear, not sea gear.

I think the key when securing fishing gear is that its completely out of view. The tube could be empty, it could be full of expensive rods, or it could be filled with cheap walmart rods, the theft value not being known is enough many times to prevent theft.

In the back i attach it to the kayak rack with the supplied mounting u bolts.
In the front im using a ratchet strap on the roof rack.
I know thats not the best for theft prevention, but i really only use it when i am on longer trips and dont leave the vehicle unattended.
