I got out, and slid the lock on the door... then, left the key in the middle of the bench seat.

Since they are manual locks/windows, any tips?

I'd try getting the back window open with a screwdriver or something

if you have a rear sliding window, you can get in through there

Get a ride home and get the spare key from your house. That should be the first thing you do with any key, make a spare and put it in a safe place!

Seriously though I doubt he has a sliding rear window if the truck has manual locks/windows. I would call a local locksmith, they can probably pick it for you or use a bump key to open the door.

Watch out for scammers though. It shouldn't cost much more than $50 from a professional. If it is going to cost more, then call a couple other locksmiths and ask them how much for the same thing first.

like others have said, rear sliders is super easy to get in through if you have one. pry it open a little with a screw driver or knife, then slide it open

I tried the slider and the one time I couldnt get it was when I got locked out while my truck was running, $50 from the local tow company and I was back in my truck. Cheapest option imo.

Option 2 was using the mallet in the bed of my truck but decided against it.

Exactly why you should also have a spare house key hidden somewhere outside around your house or in a shed nearby.

A bent wire slid through the molding and you can pop the clip in 30 seconds. I spent an hour on the fronts, don't try you won't get anywhere. The rear slider is ridiculously easy to pop open.

If you're still on ToyotaCare, I think it includes lock-out service.

Ended up hitching a ride to my local toyota dealer. Key was only 10 dollars cut
Didn't have a rear slider, nor did insurance/toyotacare cover it.

fortunately, the key cranks the car too... regular cabs/2.7s in general had none of that chipped key business

It's not new, it's not Mexico
I've done this & had to sit around for a hour waiting for AAA to show up. Now I lock the door with the key.

I made a copy ofy key and I keep one with my girlfriend and the other on my wallet. This key will only open doors but not start my vehicle.

One day I went on a trip and left my keys in my truck and got locked out haha. I had to call AAA. And paid them $50 to unlock it, now I'm a AAA member so I only pay maybe $100 a year for the roadside service and if I get locked out it will be free. My friends would also get locked out so I would call AAA AMD tell them it was my vehicle and get it unlocked for free
