    Hello,

Yesterday I managed to locked my keys inside the truck.

According to the user guide "The door cannot be locked if the engine switch is in ACCESSORY or
IGNITION ON mode, or the electronic key is left inside the vehicle."

This is after a failed stolen attempt where they shattered the driver side window. I wonder if the dealer forgot to reconnect something when replacing the window.

EDIT: The idiot proof feature is only available with "smart" keys. My vehicle got a manual transmission and doesn't come with smart keys. Apparently that's most likely why they failed to steal the truck.

Sometimes the antenna doesnt pick up the key, I've had brand new vehicles with keys on passenger seat not be detected.

Most of the time it freaks out and lets you know. There is an antenna in the door handle, but you'd know if that was disconnected as the door sense lock wouldnt work.

    Bad luck.

Idio's probably didn't know it was a Manual until they go inside.
If I weren't old and feeble I'd have gone MT but after 30+ years of clutching I'm done with it.

Yes, I was just surprised the truck "allowed" me to do it. Cause all my other vehicles will not lock with the keys inside. Including my motorcycles hehehehe.
Including the Tundra I gave up for the Taco.
I have no fob, physical key sticking out with builtin remote buttons. But I recall trying the same thing as you described and got the same result. Couldn't locked the running truck.

That debate went forever and still going. There is two camps
    1. Camp old timers: Young thief panicked when he saw 3 pedals on the floor.
    2. Camp techies: Vehicles equipped with modern(read chip inside) physical keys are not vulnerable to scan/replay attacks and/or obd2 port hacks. Unlike FOB/Press To Start, it takes much more than 10s to circumvent the "security" features. Btw big SHAME ON YOU car manufacturers for making our cars SO easy to hack and steal. I guess it's good business until your ass get wiped with class actions.
As an old timer, I'm an oddity sitting in camp #2.
