Hey guys, hope you're all doing alright with working from home and or getting by in these crappy times. Figured i'd work on my motorcycle set up in my tacoma since i've been really itching to squeeze two bikes in there. I know its very tight, but its also doable for sport bikes. I have black widow tri-ramps which are almost as wide of the bed so loading bike into truck solo will be simple.

Question is would i be alright running my original leaf's with Hellwig helper springs for about 900 pounds of load for 2 hour drives? maybe 10-15 times a year

Getting the Hellwig 550-and have new bilsteins in there. Also could get the 1k load helper springs but think that might be too stiff for regular driving. Or should i really replace the leaf packs with something stiffer?

And this is from my original suspension a month ago, had a nice sag with one bike. Confident now with new suspension it would be good with 1 bike, overloaded with my larger one.

Well my bigger bike fits okay in there, but don't think i'll be loading up 2 bikes unfortunately. The rear doesn't sag nearly as bad with the helper springs on there and its considerably stiffer. Also the bike is about 3 inches back and should be more forward which should distribute the weight better.

I drove from SD to WA with the bike on the back end with no problems, slight sag but nothing circumstantial. The set up on your truck should be more than adequate for hauling your rides....keep the shiny side up!

might be a good idea to upgrade your bumpstops. Sweet bikes btw. I have an 06 GSXR 600 myself. Bought it in 2016 with 2800 miles on it. I think it's somewhere around 11,000 now.

Good call, they looked untouched when i was under there last but haven't done many trips.

The gsxr is a great bike, millions of parts available and overall reliable. Replace the stator(alternator) if your battery keeps dying otherwise enjoy and keep up on tires, brakes, fork leaks and oil.

for me, I heard about the rectifier going bad from cooking right by the headers, so I ended up relocating it, I tried a Rick's Motorsport rectifier and that one sucked/failed quickly so I bought a used OEM one from a 2008 and it's been perfect ever since! All I've had to do with it so far is change the oil and clean/lube the chain and change tires. I do plan on doing a projector retrofit to it in the very near future! The stock headlight on it sucks lol

My wife just drove from Reno, NV to Wa last week, hauled one of my motorcycles up for me.

How are you guys getting the bikes up there? Foldable Ramps? Right on the edge of buying an 07 cbr 600rr. If I can avoid having to get a small trailer it be great.

I have the 6ft bed, for that reason, longer wheel base, its good if you have more than 2 bikes, But I just sold one, other is for sale, so I am sure i will deliver it to someone. long beds ftw

Backed up to a little hill on my property, dropped the tailgate and rolled on in. When I unloaded it was at the shipping and receiving facility at Bangor Naval Base in WA. Since then I have purchased a Trackside Heavy Duty Wide Folding Ramp.
