I'm hoping to either compile a list or be pointed towards an existing comprehensive list of wheels/rims that have 4.5" of backspacing. I'm trying to find all the options we have for a 16 or 17 inch wheel that will run 285's on ~3 inch lift without rubbing the UCA's and without using spacers. Please post your experience with the wheel, rubbing issues, and anything that was required to stop the rubbing. Hopefully this can help everyone when they come to make a decision. Thanks TW!

Can anyone confirm you can run 285's on the 17" Toyota Steel wheels without spacers? I think they are the ones that come on the FJ Cruisers but are also used as spares for our trucks. They are 17" x 7.5" with 4.5" backspacing. I'd love to hear from someone with first hand knowledge!

What did you end up going with? I am going to put together a set of wheels with 33's on them and need 4.5" backspacing too.

I am also in dire need of advise. Here's my situation: I have an '04 4wd extra cab with 5100 Bilstein's all around with the front all the way up to 2.5" and Camburg UCA's. I need to replace my tires and unfortunately I have to do this before I can purchase the many upgrades that I want, especially after-market coilovers. I currently have 265/70/16's on factory wheels but want to upgrade. Can I run 285/75/16 tires with 16x8, 0 offset, 4.5 backspaced wheels on this current setup without rubbing? If there is rubbing, is it minimal and/or bearable until I can get the suspension that I want? I have done so much research and have heard so many opinions about rubbing and re-gearing that my brain hurts. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

@hmcclung, which ones did you end up getting? I'm thinking about grabbing a set of SCS wheels to mount 33's on so I can run them over the winter. I'd like to let you be the only one rocking your wheel type and get something different.
