I recently bought some Dick Cepek 255/85/16! I’m excited but they’re obviously heavier than the stock TRD OR tires so I’d like to counter the weight with some lighter wheels.

Anyone know of some light weight 16in options? (Not Te37s, wayyy too expensive lol) I believe the stock wheels are st 24lbs

TE37 are definitely the lightest and strongest, the next runner up that I know of that fits our trucks would probably be one of @SCSPerformance offerings.

Perhaps a few pounds heavier but much better priced.

Unfortunately you're going to have to settle somewhere, if you want the best it ain't going to be cheap, if you want it cheap it ain't going to be light or the best.

    My SCS Stealth6 in 17x8.5 are 24lbs each. The 16x8's are 21lbs

    Rays TE37's I believe are around 15lbs in 16x8.

    :notsure:

If you play hard though, don't go cheap on wheels.

Te37x’s would be the lightest wheel as far as I’m aware of. about 16.5~ lbs from what I recall.

Another option would be the Enkei RPT1, I wanna say they weighed in at about 18lbs.7F3BCEB9-E813-417D-AA9F-A494C0A6CC6B.jpg

Didn't know Enkei made that for our trucks, looks like another good option, though at that light of weight I imagine also stupidly expensive.

    OH SHIT YEAH, $400/EA

I paid $600 for all 5 of my SCS wheels. :D

I can get you some forged SSR wheels from Japan. Used, but a little elbow grease will have them looking proper.

Another FN believer here, my Countersteer Offroad 16s weigh just under 19lbs. Dustin is top notch.

I don’t know the science of it all, but if you’re going from a 40lb tire on a 25lb wheel to a 60lb tire on a 19lb wheel, the wheel/tire assembly is still 14lb heavier than stock...

I think he’s referring to the stability of a lighter rim? As in, lighter=weaker? I’m assuiming that’s what he was referring to.

    Work in progress...
I would think that most of the tire weight is in the tread and the tread moves in the biggest circle. I remember reading a bicycle article on wheel weight vs tire weight and the tire weight made a difference, however, super light wheels with heavy tires actually took more energy to turn. I could be wrong, that is for sure.

Front is the 16x8 counterstwrr type X, rear is my wheeling set which is the 17x8 six shooters . Both made by FN. They are designed almost to the T of the Rays.Took a pic to show the difference when I was swapping out last. These are all I have atm. Most my pics are from wheeling trips which I run the 17s on then.
