I don't have a lot of knowledge on the RIGID ADAPT light bars or auxiliary lights in general and what precautions you would take when putting extra power draw from the truck

I am curious if you guys changed the battery for light bars, or what you would change to be able to run the light bars in general. I heard (if its correct) that a certain amount of auxiliary lights taking X amount of amps/watts/volts would harm the battery. What could I do to prevent that

If it helps I want to get the RIGID ADAPT 40" light bar, no other lighting is planned to get added.

I just need help deciding where to mount the power for the light bar and if I would need to change something for the light bar and the truck to run correctly?

First post here so if this was discussed here before sorry ahead of time.

Welcome! When your truck is running the alternator is providing the power for your light bar, not the battery. It is only when the truck is off and you have your light bar on for an extended period that upgrading the battery to something with greater reserve capacity (RC) would be helpful.

Quick question, would you have to change the alternator to a certain spec if you put more auxiliary lights ? and do you think I'd be able to run the rigid adapt light bar with little to no problems if i plan to use it while the truck is on? What about idle, would using the bar at idle be okay with power draw ?

If you have a TRD truck you already have the high output alternator from the factory, there is no need to upgrade to run a light bar. If you were running an extreme draw device like a winch for extended periods and very often that the battery reserve capacity was an insufficient buffer, then you might consider upgrading the alternator and battery. But if you have never seen the battery alarm sound in your truck, then there is no practical need for an alternator upgrade for some lights.

alright sounds good thanks for replying so quick so many questions that I have, because I am fairly new to electronics in the car and know little to none. I will probably get the bar when I save up the money :spending: depends what I am interested in about a year from now.... 3/36k expires next year and i might lift her instead.

I shaved down my Supercharger snout, and way over-boosted my trucks supercharger before the warranty expired. You only live once. Send it. :)

I run 2 rigid SR30 and a pair of dually SS plus a fridge. All off the factory charging system. You’ll be fine. You don’t need to worry about it until you are running way more stuff.
