I have an ARE camper shell with the factory installed Yakima HD bars and skyline towers. I was wondering if i could use the crossbars to lift the shell off the bed of the truck via some sort of winch rig in my garage? Has anyone used the bars to help accomplish this task?

Suggest to slip 2x4s under the shell. Lift by the 2x4s.

The towers have a small contact area to support the shell weight. The 2x4 support the shell by the same surface as when on the truck.
