I'm about to order a complete lift kit from headstrong in a couple of weeks but I just wanted to know what problems might occur when lifting my truck 3". And if you have a 3" inch lifted taco with m/t what mpg are you getting. Is it really worth lifting?

Upper control arms maybe needed for alignment.
Dont offroad too hard with spacers.

I recently lifted my truck about 3in. Didn't need to swap my UCAs though and all has been well so far. Not many other problems I can think of that can occur by lifting it as long as you're getting all the correct parts. Headstrong seems to a favorite choice of many so you should be good. As far as worth lifting it..well I guess that all depends on your personal choice and if you plan on wheelin'..if so, then yeah it is worth it. Just my two cents..

Lifting won't really affect your mileage. Bigger tires will though.

As far as problems, not much. Harder to get inside.

Also, do a search this topic has been covered a million times.

A little of this and a little of that.
I recently installed (August '16) an OME lift kit on my 2011 DCSB 4x4 m/t. I have 885 springs and I installed the full Dakar leaf packs in the rear. My kit came with the CB drop spacers, and I installed them at the same time. I also installed LR UCA's, so that alignment wouldn't be an issue.

The only problem I had was a shudder/vibration right at roll out that would shake the manual shifter up to 10-15 mph. I measured my driveline angles and needed to add 3 degree shims between my Dakars and rear axle. That has eliminated the shudder/vibe.

As far a mpg are concerned, my truck isn't a daily driver, so I haven't driven it enough to check mpg's. I haven't changed my tire size yet, either. I believe that'll have a bigger effect on mpg's than just the lift.

I really like how the truck looks lifted. Is it worth it? Depends on what you do with your truck.

FWIW, Headstrong is top notch to deal with.

    Good luck.

Lift has absolutely no effect on mileage. Tires do. Stay with C rated rubber and you wont lose too much.

THanks for posting, this is good guidance. I believe I will have to shim after installing the Dakars since I have developed a nasty little shudder/vibration. How did you measure the pinion angles to determine 3 degrees? Any guidance there is much appreciated.

If you need that to solve a real off road functional problem you have, absolutely.

If you are doing it for big tires (that you don't functionally need) and looks, the the judgement of worth it totally up to you and your wallet.

A little of this and a little of that.

I viewed several YouTube videos and bought one of the Swanson angle finder gauges like in this video.
    https://youtu.be/wkfndHDiH1M

I used it and also the "HandyLevel" app on my iPhone to measure the angles of my driveline.

    Good luck.

Yup, I was going to say needle bearing. Also driveshaft vibes.

Another thing you'll be battling is an overwhelming need to run things over.

This too. Inner boots are the problem here. Search "boot slide mod" or get yourself a pair of high angle inner boots.

    I got mine from CVJ
