    Leveling kits generally means spacers. Don't put a cheap spacer kit on $30,000 + truck. Call Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road and get a nice deal on a nice suspension lift. Do it once and do it right, is what most say. I didn't go top notch, but did go with OME 887's on 5100's with rear ICON 2.0 shocks, and a rear ICON 1.5 Progressive AAL and Camburg UCA's Ball Joint Type. 3 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back.

    im not trying to contradict anyone here. but i ran the 3" rough country spacer lift on my 2015 tacoma. i live in south louisiana and its very often that we like to get drunk and go hit the mud in your truck. ive done this many times with that 3" spacer lift and have had absolutely zero issues. now if i were to be climbing rocks and what not, im not sure how it would hold up simply because i have no experience with crawling on rocks in my truck. (mainly because they dont have those in the swamps around the house hahah).

    i think you will be perfectly fine with a strut spacer and a block in the rear for the height you're looking for bud

    Do you describe "best" as being:

    1, Cheap
    2, With zero draw backs
    3, "Looks awesome"
    4, Cheap install
    5, Few parts

    If so I think you're chasing a unicorn. What's your budget and what do you want the lift for? Do you offroad? Looking to fit larger tires?

    Start with a budget.....How much can you spend? Then, with those parameters set, explore the best options.

    You can do a spacer lift for as little as $100. There are spacer kits on Ebay in the $80 to $100 range. I've installed a few on customers trucks, even had one on my truck for a while. Cheap? Yep! But they have a few drawbacks. The biggest is, you run out of shock travel long before you run out of suspension travel. End result CAN be bent or broken front shocks. Also, the ride quality will be no better than what you had "pre-lift" and in some rare instances, worse. If you're starting with shocks that have any significant miles on them, you'll see your ride quality drop off in short order.

    My personal favorite is probably the least expensive of the "respected" lifts..... Bilstein 5100's, New OME coils (I prefer 885X's) and a Deavers AAL in the rear. That gives you 2-1/2" of front lift, 2" in the rear, better, more compliant coils, and a firm rear suspension. Tacoma's aren't tri-axle dump trucks....So I don't see the need to build a rear suspension capable of carrying extremely high weight. I pull an Airstream 21' travel trailer with the Deavers AAL, and do well with it. Some people like heavier rear leaf's like the OME Dakars....I'm not sold on MY need for them at this point. YMMV.

    With 5100's, you have the option of using stock coils, and setting the adjustable shock for one of several lift positions.....I'm not a big fan of that practice. I do NOT like preloading coils to gain lift. I prefer a longer coil at a lower spring rate.....Gives better ride IMHO.

    Anyway, with 5100's, 885X's and Deavers AAL, my truck rides better than any 4wd I've ever owned....This "kit" if you will, is available from Headstrong Offroad. (Talk to Marie) You'll spend about $740.

    By staying with a lift in the 2" to 2-1/2" (max), you should be able to avoid the cost of new upper control arms. Go to a full on 3" kit and you'll drop $300 to $500 additional on the UCA's.

    Not Disagreeing, but I'd prefer to know how much I had to work with, THEN search for options in that range. Search "Tacoma lift" and you get inundated with info. Search let's say "Tacoma lift under $800" and you have a lot less to muddle through.....

    I was saying OP's first step is to search. Theoretically, he should already know his own budget. I agreed with everything in your post - I think the first thing OP needs to do is search through the forum a bit. This question' been answered about 1253 times.

    You may be underestimating that a bit.....;)

    The search function on this site is confusing at best, and downright mind boggling at times.

    But.....In the grand scheme of things, if we only asked/answered questions that haven't been asked/answered before, about 95% of the traffic on this site would be dust in the wind....That's been my finding on EVERY discussion forum. People seem to want to ask their own question, even if it's been answer 1253 times already. I'm OK with that.

    Again - agreed. I say it for the OP's sake - not because he's wasting anyone's time. He can get a tonne of useful info in 20 mins that may never get mentioned in a fresh new thread. Searching, or even just browsing through the suspension section, will give the OP way more good info that he could ever glean from one thread, and you don't have to wait days or weeks for replies.

    I agree with everyone who said 5100s+OME coils. I have 5100s and 884s and I like them very much. It's a little lower than you were planning, however (right around 2"). In the back, I have General HD leafs which settled to about 1.5" above factory. I opted to replace the entire packs rather than adding an AAL to a lousy OEM 3-leaf with 70k on it.

    Typically, a 2nd gen Tacoma will have around 1.5" of rake from the factory. So, mine is slightly more level than stock but not completely level. 2" rear/3" front will probably also maintain a tiny bit of rake. That's preferable because if you have a load in the bed or tow anything it won't look nose-high.
