I posted this in the suspension section, but deleted it,

I’m looking to install new coilovers, rear shocks and new rear springs on my 2002 DCSB 3.4 Tacoma.

I’d like to stay around 2,000 for the components, I’m planning on running either a CBI or Relentless fab full hoop bumper.
I’m looking for at least 2.5” of height, so I can run 255/85/16’s.
I do light Offroad driving, no rock crawling or high speed driving, not too much in Wisconsin.

What would be a good set up?
I’m open to just about any brand.
Looking for help to make up my mind.

Do I need 650 or 700 lb springs?

Does the COVID stuff have everything really screwed up yet?

    Thanks all

How much does that bumper weigh? I have 620# springs and they are fine with a winch bumper. My front lift is a solid 3" with 5100s on the lowest setting.

Rear springs I had a shop custom build, they are 4" unloaded. 3" loaded. All vendors said they were 2 months backordered, so I went the custom route.

$2000 is a large budget if you plan on installing them yourself. Shop labor, alignment and mount+balance will eat up a substantial amount of that budget.

What’s nice about Old Man Emu is that they include all 4 shocks along with front coils and rear leaf springs all in one kit. Just installed the full setup with the 882 front springs. I also ordered SPC UCAs and still kept it around $2k. I have 285/75/17s. I think OME is the best bang for your buck if you want to replace all your suspension components IMO.

Thanks, I’m thinking an extra 150lbs is what the bumper will weight.
Another note, I will be installing them myself and I wasn’t including the alignment in the budget.

The OME suspension has had my interest for a little while. It seems like a lot of guys and maybe even girls are running the set up.

I’m going to be replacing most of the front end while I installed the lift, that’s a separate number too. Then I can try and kill two birds with one stone, hopefully I can gather all the components. Currently working from home with the Covid stuff so the truck can be parked for a while.

Yep I’m subscribed to that thread, originally the OME lift kit was what I was going to go with, not sure why I’m second guessing myself now.

Maybe just to see what others might have experience with I guess.
I know a lot of these conversations are basically someone’s opinion, but I’m good with that.

I've had experience with non adjustable 5100's and nitrocharger sports. My opinion is they both suck, and ride harsh. Ome shines off-road though.

For me it rides fine but it’s no Cadillac either. It also depends on what you choose as far as the front coils and whether you add the AAL in the rear. I have 882s and the AAL so my ride is slightly harsher than someone who has 881s and no AAL. But for daily use I don’t think you’d need anymore than this.

    Nice,

I ended up going with the following

OME kit, 883 springs (since I'm adding a Relentless Fab "Predator" bumper) (went with Toytec since they had the kit in stock and I need it right away)
Dakar rear springs with the OME greasable shackles, (just an FYI they come with the Wheeler's Kit, not the Toytec Kit)
    Front Diff Drop kit
    3 Degree axle shims
    Carrier bearing drop kit
    New SPC Alignment CAM bolts
JBA Offroad UCA's (man they shipped right away, awesome customer service, just gotta paint them black, red is lame)
    BFG KM3's 255/85/16's
4runner 5 Spoke rims, restoring them and painting them Dark Bronze (possible spacers, we'll see)
All new front bushings (Diff, Swaybar, Steering rack, ect...)
New LCA's (Stock cause I aint got Long Travel Cash)
New hubs and wheel bearings and all the seals (should have went manual hub conversion)
All new OEM calipers, brakes, disks and drums (OEM shit is good but costly)
New CV boots, going to do the Extendo Boot mod(follow @Timmah! for a bunch of great step by step instructions)
DuroBumps bumpstops for the front and rear
New carrier bearing (OEM) (Doing the U-joint right away too)
When its all done its getting a coat of fluid film to save me from these salty Wisconsin winters

    Future stuff:
    Lil bit of rust repair
Rear bumper, not sure which one
OEM Gas tank, mine might need a replacement soon
Skid plates, waiting on the bumper first
    Fog lights

I like the bilsteins I got so far. I had put some cheap KYB on there just because I needed something because the OE were junk after 120k miles. The difference is night and day. I really like e feel of the Bil’s. Dropped it off today for an alignment then I’ll make a freeway run. Might even take it to big bear for my birthday. Just have to convince the wife we need to take it HAHAHAHAHA
