so i bought my tacoma from carmax with the aftermarket lift already installed, about a week ago it started to shake. I purchased an extended warranty and just need to know if that is covered or am I screwed, I have no receipts from the person who installed the lift kit.

Well I've read that aftermarket parts can't void the warranty, but it may just need an alignment. Just hoping that they know what to do with it.

Who did you buy the extended warranty through? If it was Toyota then don't expect them to fix any suspension related issues. If it was another 3rd party then they may do something since the vehicle was purchased with the lift.

You need to read your warranty.

Almost certainly the warranty will not cover problems with aftermarket suspension parts or install issues with the lift.

But tgat doesnt mean the issue isnt with a factory part.

Is the shaking happening when you brake? Lol

6inch lift sitting on bilstein coilovers. Lexus is300 studs in front to keep stock wheels, general grabber red letters, nfab front bumper.
Alignment will not fix a shake. Sorry.

Man people on here are going to be rough on you with a post like this so let me help you out. First, what is the nature of the shake? Does it happen at a certain speed, during braking or accelerating? If it is a balance issue on your tires, you will most likely notice it while braking or at a particular speed. How old are your tires? Have you checked air pressure in the tires? Had them balanced and rotated?

So if tire problems are eliminated, and depending on your type of lift, you could be developing driveline vibrations which can actually get kind of severe if not corrected. If you have a lift with an add-a-leaf rather than blocks, you may need axle shims and/or carrier bearing spacers to correct the driveshaft alignment. Toyota decided on the two piece driveshaft which creates problems from lifting because without properly aligning the driveshaft after a lift you have two pieces that are at different alignments which causes a wobble. Could be the source of your issue.

This forum is great for problem solving. Take some time to test your truck and post up what you have done. Good luck!

The Carmax warranty should cover the vehicle as it was purchased. Take it in.
