I bought my Taco from Priority Toyota in Chesapeake VA. One of the reasons I bought it here rather than another dealer, was that they offer oil changes and state inspections for life, and they warranty the engine and transmission for life as well (as long as all maintenance is done per the manual).

Anyone else get a similar program?

At my dealership that kind of thing would have costed extra and I think the only thing they offered was five years of oil changes for like $1200 or something. Didn't bother haggling or asking more about it. (Didn't get it either)

There's a Priority Nissan dealership in Chantilly Virginia that used to always advertise $1 oil changes or something like that. I never got to check it out due to the location being too far for me.

If it's the same Priority chain maybe they figure they'll make their money some other way.

I used Trueprice when I shopped and found what I wanted for a 35k, which included the "Priorities for Life" and 2 years of Toyota care platinum. They probably make up the cost in the service after the 2-years. I hate having to go to the dealer for maintenance and oil changes, but a lifetime engine and transmission warranty is worth it.

As long as you realize its a money maker for the dealer.

Those 'dealer services' will be the killer. Unless thats something you would have done anyway.

I wouldn't trust a dealership to change my oil for the lifetime of my vehicle...dealerships put their least trained 'techs' on basic maintenance like that and I've heard too many horror stories to risk it for that long but that's just me

I guess you missed the part about lifetime warranty on the motor. Kind of a no lose situation there.

Loyalty? Walmart 5qt jugs of M1 is just over $20 and filters can be had for about $3. It costs a dealer no more than half of that. Probably half the folks showing up spend double that on parts or accessories. Profit!

They probably have an insurance policy to cover the powertrain warranty, or a little investment fund that is growing crazy interest compared with the rare motor or transmission that they have to swap out.

They make their cost back in the vehicle maintenance. You have to have ALL maintenance done at the dealer. I didn't pay any more for the truck than I would have at another dealer by using True Price.

Id be curious to see the window sticker/s where it says this is a no cost program.

I'm skeptical of that 'lifetime' warranty on the drivetrain...offering that kind of warranty on all new vehicles is pretty much unheard of as far as I'm aware, there's got to be some fine print that makes it difficult, I dunno...still wouldn't want a dealer doing all of my oil changes lol

One dealer near me offered the lifetime warranty on the engine and transmission.

The fine print meant that I had to pay for 2 to 3 service tune ups per year totaling about $360.

So over 10 year ownership I was paying out of pocket approx $3,600.

    Not worth it for me.

If they can’t put the lug nuts back on wheels, they may not put the oil drain plug back in either...

Lifetime warranty on engine is interesting.

Free oil changes are basically the norm around here. Like everyone is saying you have to do all the services that go with the oil there and usually they are quite pricey at dealers.

I purchased from Priority also but honestly already irritated with them. Haven't had my 1st maintenance visit yet but I'm dreading that day

Yes, the lifetime drivetrain warranty came with my 2018 Tacoma OR. Bought it in Fort Walton, Florida. Required maintenance does not have to be completed by the dealer. Receipts or documentation of maintenance are all that is required.

And miss one single solitary thing by a minute or a mile, and all is likely null and void.

A large swimming pool company I was closely associated with offered lifetime warranties their pools and spas, as long as all water test and associated supplies were purchased through said company. One water test every 14 days, 12 months a year. All warranties were cross checked with the customer's water test database. If a test had been missed at any point for any reason - no warranty outside manufacturers originals.
