Anyone have a socket burn. Had a blown tail light fuse 2 days ago. Replaced it and checked all lights no problems found. Rear bumper started smoking pretty bad, lucky I was home. The left side license plate light socket was completely melting but oddly the light was lit fine...lol Smoke always helps point the way. Took it out and looks like corrosion between the socket and wiring plug. Right side was clean, must have gotten some good old NYS salt in it. Anyone know a good place for replacement parts? I figure at almost 4 years and 44,000 miles its not covered unless I missed it in a TSB list. Good thing my bumper is chrome and not plastic or it could have been fire city....

Thanks for any part suggestions, dealer is 50 miles from me, would rather order online.

    I bought it on

    http://www.toyotaofpoway.com/parts/

These are parts really hard to find and stealers usually tell you that you have to buy the complete harness/tow hitch connector which is about $230.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/32085366460...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1383wt_952

So, since i was not able to get these connectors while browsing the toyota catalog, i decided to do little research in the Toyota electric diagrams and i found out that they have a part number and that you can buy the sockets online by part number

Lic plate light conectors (2) LF/RH make sure you order 2 items 1 for each side

    9098011162 Toyota part num

In any case here is a four contact plug that you may also need in case that it burned, this one is closer to the chasis and spare tire, so that you dont have to cut and to leave you vehcle as much stock as you can

90980 10942 this one is a female plug

male plug is also listed in the toyota diagram

    90980–10941 part#

You may also find these plugs in ebay

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/35056834465...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_25040wt_952

If you need bulbs and housing you browse the the parts catalog and you will find them just put you tuck model year and all that
    once in the menu

    electrical
    rear lamps
    license lamps

    these are around $25 ea

I hope this helps and if anyone has questions about SRS (airbags) codes or anything just let me know
