    Hello everyone.

I just received my new classic plates (yellow on black) for my 2017 DC. With a random number.
And the way I understand is regular California plates are commercial by default for trucks. One letter and six numbers.
The one I received has 2 letters and 4 numbers. Starts with a J.
Does that mean they took the commercial off?
    I can't find it online.
I know that 2 letters and 5 numbers are regular plates. But this one having only 6 caracteres has me wondering.

    Thanks I advance

The initial registration that arrived with the plates doesn't say. it was the same when I received the original plates. and some time later I received another registration on a ticker paper that stated it was commercial.

No. I have a tonneau cover. but when I order the replacement plates online. the site didn't ask if I had one.
But it did ask if it was commercial.

Not to thread hijack, but what happened to the plates that were in this format: NLLLNNN, where Ns are numbers and Ls are letters?

Seriously...? California? This whole place is screwed. Like is that easy to move 30+ years of work somewhere else .. is everyone 12 years old around here or what..
I'm sorry about the attitude. But I'm sick and tired of the idiotic coments and questions. If you have nothing that will add value to the conversation... please.. just stfu. And thank you.

I would submit that your lack of answers means you asked something dumb that nobody cares about.

The question was not dumb. The absence of a correct reply at this point. Just means that not one that has read it has the answer. And you guys keep making my point... if you have nothing valuable to say... why do you? Why do you just have to blob to blob...

Because you're rude and have soft skin.

New classic plates don't have the same number of characters by default that normal plates do just FYI. You have a custom plate but that has random characters which does not display commercial layouts.

When you submit for the custom plates they don't ask for vehicle information so they don't know what type of vehicle it is going on. Your registration is still commercial.
