I'm interesting in swapping out my stock Tacoma (2012 sr5 4x4) wheel for a smaller diameter wheel. The wheels that come with these trucks are HUGE and I find myself hitting my legs against the bottom pretty often while driving and just getting in/out of the vehicle. I measured about 15 and half inches for the stock wheel and I think something closer to 14 inches would be ideal.

I've looked at some wheel options and really dig the Lexus es350 wheels but I don't know if they're any smaller in diameter. The controls do appear to match up with my stock wheel, so that's a plus.

Does anyone have any knowledge about what steering wheels have similar controls setups (same harness) and are smaller than our stock wheels? I'd consider pretty much any wheel as long as it fits, but the wood grain on some of these Lexus wheels looks pretty nifty.

    Thanks guys

GX460/470 is most logical. Problem is the signal to the radio could vary. Same with the airbag signal.

Hmm. I wasn't considering that the signal could be an issue, that might be a problem. I was more concerned if the harnesses would match up. Hopefully somebody on here has some insight.

I am running an aftermarket head unit with a steering wheel interface to get the wheel to talk to it. I remember the interface harness having a box with switches that needed to be set based on the vehicle it was being installed in. It could be as simple as just switching it to Lexus instead of Toyota. It might actually work, the interface appears to be compatible with Lexus based on the documentation that came with it.

Actually, my memory may have failed me, I did the install a couple of years ago. The switches may have been for the brand of radio, Sony in my case, not the vehicle manufacturer. Either way it should be reprogrammable.

if the harness doesn't match, just de-pin and put in appropriate spots

That's true, but I still want to know if a Lexus airbag will activate correctly when installed in my taco. It's such a simple device that it seems unlikely there'd be a vast difference in Lexus vs Toyota airbag squib technology, but idk I wasn't there when they designed this stuff.

Only one way to find out :annoyed:, but, don’t quote me on this, for me, I’d only be concerned if it was a single stage or duel stage airbag.

    Found this.

    https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs...58-solution-to-dual-single-stage-airbags.html

Looks like a single stage has a single connector and dual stage two connectors with the same bolt pattern for mounting so it should be swappable either way. I'm getting pretty confident this can work.

Just ordered one of these from an rx 330 for $80 bucks. We'll see if we can get it mounted. Fingers crossed
