I decided to buy a used 2018 4x4 sport and now I have so much to learn. The previous owner seems to have bought the 3in RC lift with a spacer to level the truck and blocks for the rear. New to the tacoma world, I am hearing that's a bad thing.
What are some recommendations for a 3in lift kit but getting rid of the factory rake without spacers?

Unless you are off-road more than 50% of the time spacers will do just fine. They are not the best option but they have been used for decades for a reason.

    Like, so many.
Agreed. You'll get some push back on here, but most trucks you seen on the road that are leveled are using spacers. However, if you want to drop the coin on a suspensions lift, you have a lot of great options that will also increase the capability of your truck.

Do you know why it’s a “bad thing”? In many cases a spacer lift is just fine for certain uses. Don’t just take Tacomaworld’s word for it. Research why!

Quite a few things at this point..
My friend has had a spacer/block lift on his 2020 off-road since he bought it almost a year ago. He wheels harder than all of us, and more often. He's yet to have any issues.

Not saying problems can't or won't happen, but spacers also aren't some thing to fear either, especially if you aren't going hardcore offroading.

Remove and replace with Bilsteins or Eibach. Been down that road with spacers never again. Yes they are fine but when you research and see what can happen might just change your mind Considering our trucks cost lots of money.
    Good luck.
I do like the sumo springs though

They are fine if you don’t see much more than gravel roads or aren’t taking a parking lot speedbump at 60mph.

For street use they are fine. The ride may however be harsh.

Spacers are good for looks and anything you would do on your stock suspension. No complaints. Don’t let fools tell you they are bad just because they spent thousands on suspension to drive on pavement 360 days of the year
