Ok, so i wanna understand why some people post about them installing a leveling kit only in the front? Why is that? Isnt it suppose to be front and back?

Also, is it safe to use just a leveli g kit to lift your truck?

    Would appreciate any help :)

From the factory, most trucks, to include Tacomas, sit a little lower in front than they do in the rear. The rear sits higher to counteract the weight of a load in the bed. A leveling kit just brings the front up to match the rear. Here's the best pic I could find to illustrate the difference.

Grab a tape measure and measure from the center of your hubs on the your wheel to the bottom of the fender. Measure all 4 sides, but the difference between the front and back is known as "rake." It's about 1 and 1/2" - 2" from factory, and a 2" leveling kit will lift just the front and level that out.

However, a downside, if you have a level truck and you put a load in the bed or hook up a trailer, it might tilt back (negative rake), and your headlight will point into the trees and it will be harder to steer because the front tires aren't making good contact with the ground.

Is it safe? Yea, lots of people do it, and if you have someone who does it properly it will be fine.

A levellling kit is a lift. It just implies lifting the truck to a level stance, often by only lifting the front

Usually "leveling kit" in marketing terms equates to some company selling you a shitty block and/or spacer lift for your truck. Do yourself a favor, if you want to maintain or improve the factory ride quality of your truck, spend a few hundred more and get some adjustable coilovers for the front with improved dampening and spring rates. You'll thank yourself down the road you didn't cheap out.

Hey OP, here's a thought. Many times in my life I got something new and wanted to make it my own. I jump the gun.

If you're not certain of the following terms:
    Rake
    Leveling Kit
    Lift
    Suspension Lift
    Spacers and Blocks
    Upper Control Arms
    ECGS Bushing Replacement

Research those terms so you can make an informed decision about what you want. Also, there's a lady named Marie at Headstrong Off Road who was VERY helpful and knew how to get me what I wanted. It's worth talking to a few vendors to get some ideas too, keeping in mind they are selling products.

If you're not 100% sure, hold off until you know. You won't spend a ton on a leveling kit, but you might find you hate the ride, and that $300 could have been spent towards what Smiitty was discussing, a suspension lift. That lifts front and back and makes the vehicle ride much different (usually better). Browse the forums and ask questions. Good luck on your search.

Look at the Bilstien 5100 adjustable when you need a shock replacement it does not break the bank and you will be happy with the results

Maybe it's just me but leveling kits seem to raise the front too high. While it may technically level it, it makes the truck look like it's dragging it's tail down the road.
