So here are a couple of my favorite 22s…

First picture is of my KIDD build. Nikon optic, carbon stock handguard and pistol grip, Volquartsen carbon barrel, PMACA chassis and a StreamLight game hunter in green.A4E4B61E-C481-4FC0-BAA4-716F2104F7F2.jpg
This next set consists of two Ruger 10/22’s. Top one is a Ruger action in a P90 chassis. Has a Burris red dot with matching flip-to-side magnifier, and a Tac Solutions fluted barrel.
The pink rifle is my wife’s Ruger 10/22. Has a Nikon optic, MuddyGirl stock and bi-pod.642EE84F-4FB7-4954-8FDA-206434FBF4F0.jpg
This third picture is of one of my more recent builds…
Its another KIDD action, set into an Enoch Industries ODIN chassis. Features a Nikon Spur red dot, Volquartsen carbon pistol barrel, Future Forged carbon grips and a Phase 5 AR pistol buffer. Simple and elegant, definitely one of my favorites! Super fun to shoot, especially suppressed!!F297A746-0819-4978-8840-8E4F2C6F33FC.jpg
And last and just for fun is another fun little 22LR…
This is my Ruger SR22 pistol. Has TruGlo sights, red LaserMax, Ruger threaded barrel and top it off with a Spikes Tactical Buckwheat suppressor.F2AB1FC4-7A19-4C08-8528-48C76FCCB55E.jpg

    @p1smo

Appreciate it. Started out as a cabinet, then two cabinets… then I made a small room with shelves, a work station and pegboard all over the place.

I finally bought a 10/22 a little over a year ago. I’ve got a couple other 22’s so it was a wish list rifle for me. It shoots ok but this is hands down the pickiest rifle with ammo I have ever had. The rest I have will shoot anything but this one jams all the time. I recently tried some Federal premium target rounds and they’d either stove pipe about every fourth round or actually swell so much they wouldn’t extract. I switched over to some bulk Winchester copper jacketed bullets and they fed no problem. Any ideas on any issue the rifle may have? It’s all stock I’ve only added an optic

Sounds like it might need a little break-in.

Take it apart, clean the receiver and barrel really well, make sure all the bearing surfaces are smooth (no burrs or machining marks). Apply a light coat of oil to the moving parts, and shoot more.

It should start behaving after some more rounds. If not, you can try changing springs, etc.

Make sure you are using High Velocity ammo - standard velocity may not have enough power to properly cycle the bolt.

how many rounds you put through it so far?
out the box my 10/22 had a lot of stovepipe problems, but after some time it seems to have worked itself out, she hates federal though always has...

cci or the copper winchesters though, rarely ever had an issue

It was cleaned and lubed before first use and after every use I’ll take it apart and give a deeper inspection but maybe just needs to be shot more idk

300 rounds is still early for the 10/22

check back after you pass 500 through it, by 1k rounds I bet it works a good % of those kinks out

but yea it is frustrating, for a gun that you just want to the the trigger like crazy on, one jam is one too many, picking out little jammed up .22lr is frustrating

The only thing I’d really like to change on it is the trigger. I really like the rifle other than the jamming issues. I want this to be my primary 22 at least it’s easy to work on

well you have a lot of options for upgrading the trigger, as I imagine you have already discovered reading online...

my advice would be buying a full trigger assembly, there are a bunch of nice options out, so then that way you can drop it in and start shooting, and still play with the original one you pull out on the work bench with some of the many replaceable and or workable parts

plus this way, before you know it you will have enough parts for 2 10/22

I’m not looking for super fancy just smoother and lighter. Any experience with the upgraded Ruger drop ins?

I upgraded to a Volquartsen trigger assembly 15-20 years ago, a lot better than stock. I've wondered if the BX triggers are just as good.

@Casper66 dont run the 10/22 wet like you would an ar, try running it dry
some might tell you otherwise, but this seems to work for me and some others online as well

I like the ruger drop in units, a lot of people like the hornet drop ins and the timney drop ins as well, of course kidd and volquartsen
