Let's play, how bad are my leaf springs

Here's how you play, look at the picture and tell me if I need new leaf springs. Pretty simple.

When I go over speed bumps the back end feels pretty rough but I just bought this truck so I'm not sure what the baseline is. Definitely more of a jolt than my old jetta though.

You don't want them to be flat or reverse arch. I just replaced mine with Dakars on my 2nd gen and it made a HUGE difference

 

if the bed is empty mine is bouncy as hell and my leaves are fine

 

I feel like mine look pretty flat. I'm going to look into some new ones I think. I don't think these have ever been changed in 218k miles.

 

Your top leaf should have just a bit of arch to it. Those look pretty flat.

 

New rear shocks and new bushings will make a world of difference on a budget.

If you have $700+ to throw at the truck get a new rear leaf pack and some 2.0 smooth rear shocks with resi

 

Yeah, that's a lot of miles on leafs that are pretty weak. Mine were at 185K miles and were pretty flat

 

on the 2nd gens they come flat from the factory lol

Rofl that's not true. I just picked up a new take off from a 2014 from some dude and they still have just a bit of arch. Compared to lift springs, yea, its almost flat, but their is a perceptible arch to them

 

My leaf pack alone was $600.

 

I've found a few that are around 100 per side. I'll find the link and post it. I don't need a heavy duty badass one this is just my daily driver and I don't go mudding or anything crazy. I'm actually in the process of putting close to stock tires and removing the body lift.

My 1st gen's were flat from the factory.

 

I can only confirm that for my 2nd gen, never hauled anything and maybe had 400lbs in the bed once

 

My J59 Deaver 8 pack is nearly 4 years old and worth every penny I spent. They offer a 1.5 inch lift as well.

 

Ok so next question is, is there where I can buy the hardware seperately? Shackle, bolts, etc? I found springs for 100 apiece but the shackle is like 70 bucks. Almost as much as the spring itself.

 

Just remember, Buy cheap and they will be cheap.

Spend the money on a proven quality item for years of no issues.
