Post up those night shot truck lighting photos.

I bought some cheap led pods from Amazon and wired into the bed light to auto come on when unlocked from the fob. Used a relay of course.

Yea yea, I’ve got no fancy LED tail lights but if you got them show them.

Would like to do something similar, care to write up how you wired it into the bed light?

I used the cargo lamp tap where if you unlock with the FOB it will turn on the lights. This also means if you use the stock cargo lamp in the “on” position the lights turn on. Directions to the tap you need is found here (drivers side kick panel). The wire you need to tap is found on page 7.

    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0176/5842/files/00016-34089_TA_16_toyota_mcdonough.pdf

I ran the tapped wire to a relay system under the hood utilizing an auxiliary fuse system I made. Many of these aux fuse panels can be found on TW. The only thing special I added was a voltage disconnect to save the battery for starting.

Do it right and use a relay. You don’t want to overload the really thin stock wire and cause your truck to catch fire and burn up.

Sorry but I don’t have time to take photos at the moment. The link provides photos and a wire diagram to where you need to be

Is this a big thing back east or in the south?

Never see this out here on the west coast. But when I've been to Florida I see it quite a bit.

In the truck world it's actually very functional and lots of benefits of having it on the trucks, for the card it's just for looks

Old picture, but I just used 8 Kawell 6" lights and bolted them to the frame and called it good. I think for 2 it was like 15$? They're awesome for camping or when you're night wheeling.

We def don’t do that in VA considering it’s a ticket waiting to happen. I knew some guys in the late 90’s that got ticketed.

Then again u can get ticket for just about anything out here. Plus, I don’t care for the look, but I c how it might b helpful...

They are very helpful for offroading at night. We call them rock lights. Been using some variation of them for 30 years. Back then our choices were limited to tractor utility lights.

    Not enough to list
Think it would be cool to get some of those rigid rock lights, install them in the wheel wells for when you need to change a tire or fix something in the dark..

I posted an idea awhile back in the lighting section about putting lights in the predator steps. They are perforated for grip... so the light would shine through the little holes. Just need to find a way to neatly hide the wire from the steps back to the truck. No one responded... figured it was a dumb idea :)

If you guys are looking for something a little more subtle, I also installed 12" LED strips you can pick up from Walmart/ AutoZone etc. underneath all 4 doors and tapped them to the dome light.

Can you flip them on/off with the cargo lamp switch also if you wire it this way? Or only come on when you hit the key fob?
