Just out of curiosity why nobody on TW with a 3rd gen model is riding anything from Les Schwab... I see nobody with there Back Country All Terrain or there Open Range A/T. I was just curious if this is a price thing or if the tires they offer just don't compare to other A/T like the Widepeak, BFG, Toyo etc... My buddy just put 4 of LS Open Range tires on his 19 offroad and paid $230 a tire. He says they are very quiet and work really well in the rain... the sidewall looks weird to me though... thoughts?

You can put name brand mud terrains on for 230/tire. Why would you buy no-names?

I've purchased many sets of tires from Les Schwab. The appeal to going there is that it's hard to beat their level of support and customer service and they're located in almost any town in the northwest.

I'd stay away from their cheaper house brands like the "Back Country" which I think are made by Dean. They stock Toyo AT2's which are good tires. The Open Range tires are made by Cooper and look really nice but they're new. I'm waiting for a few more reviews before spending that much money on a tire. There's a few TW guys that have reviewed them already. Edit; I thought I heard they were made by Cooper, but I can't find confirmation of this.

I've bought many sets of tire from Les Schwab and I think they're great. Customer service is the best you'll find anywhere. My next set of tires for the Tacoma will be the Open Range ATs. I've also used Discount Tire since I wanted Michelin X-Ice for some previous vehicles.

Les does typically have a better customer experience.
And if you want to run a highway tire those tires are most likely fine. But most likely you will need 4wd on a wet lawn and that's just not for me.
I always love the looks of cooper tires but just have never had good luck with them.
If I was going to run a highway tire it would be the Michelin, fallen or At2

Never could buy from Les Schwab. Their price was nearly 30-40% higher than Discount Tire and Costco. Good CS or not, that's a lot of dough.

Price and uncertainty. Your paying a premium price for a tire many have never heard of. Until this post I had no idea LS had their own tires. I can buy a quality tire I trust for less.

Why? When their sales price barely brings it back to regular pricing at other shops?

Their model works for some people. They bring in their trucks and get tires, alignment, lifts, etc. and get it all done there. Maybe that's worth the extra cost for them.

    But not me.

Yep. Most Open Country and Toyos only go to Les Schwab. The few times that I have seen them in comparisons, they fall about mid pack. Not where I want to be with a premium price.

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth I bought my tires from Les Schwab, but as the company grew they went more and more away from brand name tires to their house brands from China. That’s when I switched to Discount Tire.

cause les schwab will scratch or damage your wheels, has happened to me and some of my co workers and friends. And wont make it right. I know a guy whose car they drove off the front of the alignment rack and totaled it and screwed him on the payout. They are in too much of a hurry to get the next customer in. Discount has always treated me right and wont scratch or damage your wheels.

Centennial dirt commander 31’s. Wheels and tires were 1100$ balanced with little weight and ride smooth as a caddy. I’ve had it up to 85 and it rides great

I can't take anyone seriously with that much tire shine.

Do they still run out and greet you at your car door when you pull into a Les Schwab?
