Les Schwab brake job leaking at hub

Hello - Got a brake job on my 1996 2.4 a few months ago and I see a leak on right front hub that is slowly getting larger. I don't notice the brake fluid going down in the reservoir, could this just be grease from the wheel bearing?


Is this kind of leak normal, or should I take it back to Les Schwab? What do you think the leak is?

 

Wheel bearing grease. You can see the wrinkled mess they made of the grease cap when they removed it.

That bearing grease has been there a while. Nothing Les Schwab did

 

<--- 2012 RAV4 sitting at Les Shwab now getting new brakes. I usually DIY brakes but I found an issue yesterday I wanted looked at. In my years of using them, I have no complaints. I do shop around for tires now as they have limited choices.

They stand by their work and it has always been good IMO... Tires, brakes, struts, shocks, alignment...

 

If the wheel bearing feels tight I would fill it with grease and try to pound the cap out to seal the grease in. It looks like it’s only leaking a bit from the wrinkled spot on the cap

 

This was an $800 complete brake rebuild. The rims were washed clean at the time. Looks like the dust cover is tweaked now that I look at it. Hate to take it back to Les Schwab and argue with them over this, now I can clearly see water will get in there and rust

 

You don't need to remove the hub to rebuild the brakes. I doubt Les Schwab is going to do anything. It's old grease from an old service.

 

Get a new one at a parts house for a couple of bucks, clean that nasty wheel with Dawn and get on with life.
