    Hi everyone,

I’m in the market for a mid-rise shell for my 22 Tacoma off road long bed.

The Leer 180 looks good to me. I’ve been quoted $4,300 OTD with install for the camper including headliner, roof tracks for a rack and sliding windoors with mesh.

The dealer is in Texas. Can all you experts let know whether that’s a good price?

    Thanks,

    N

That's outrageously high!! Unfortunately, that seems to be what they are going for nowadays. I am surprised tho that its not the cap with frameless windows. My Leer 100XL with carpet, rails, light & removable front sliding window was $2800 in 2018. I did get it on sale, I believe the original price was about $3,200.

When I bought my '24 Tundra and discovered the prices had gone up so much, I scoured Marketplace and luckily found a Leer 180 for $1,200. Then gladly paid $900 to have it painted. I sold the Tacoma cap for $1,200 before I traded the truck in, as the dealer said they didn't care if it was on or not. It sold in less than an hour.

That’s not high. I mean, it’s high because none of us want to pay that much for it and maybe lots of people wouldn’t. But that’s about what they cost now. The sliding windoors are especially expensive. I bought that same camper a year and a half ago and it was about $4100 installed. Leer 180, roof tracks, carpet, sliding windoors, removable front window, etc..

When I bought a SnugTop HiLiner in 2015 it was close to $2000. When I bought the same shell for my 2023 it was over $4000.

I would browse FBM and other sites before putting up that kind of money. Unless you need it RIGHT NOW, sit on it for a bit and see if someone has a good condition model.

Inflation is crazy on caps these days. What are thoughts on no warranty for FBM caps?

My '24 leer had no warranty, but at $1,200, I really could care less. There's really nothing the dealer is going to do for you that you can't do yourself. If there was a more major problem with the fiberglass, more than likely it would've been taken care of by the original owner. But as it goes with everything, buyer beware!

I’m realizing 2017 was a long time ago, but I paid $2500ish for my 180RCC with sliding win doors then.

I know this is late but...
I paid $4.1k OTD, back in Jan 23' for a Leer 180 with basically all the options except for lights. I opted for the textured/rhino covering but I believe this was the same price if I wanted a painted shell.
    This was in Maryland.
New fiberglass shells are big $$$.
