Ok I just picked up my truck and was calling around to check quotes again. Cheapest I found it was in San Antonio, about 4 1/2 hours from me. I was quoted arounf 3500 for windoors on both sides, removeable front window, carpeted and thule roof rack. Thats the cheapest I could find it and was told its aboiut 8-12 weeks out due to the fact that I wanted double windoors. I have a 5ft bed and want the camper shell mostly to keep dog and stuff inside. I don't plan on doing drawers, I don't do construction or anything but I do marketing and store marketing stuff inside my vehicle usually. Do I need the windoors? I think I want them more than anything. They said I could add them down the road. Should I just do one? or go ahead and do both and be done.

Oh also the pricing is going up April 11th is what I was told due to fuel cost. About 8% so I was gonna go ahead and put a deposit down of 1/3 of price to secure the camper at the current quote. So its going up about $280. Everyone else I called said it was closer to 4500 installed so I feel like I should just pull the trigger on this before it gets up any higher.

I got windoors in my 100XR and love them! Buy once, cry once! Unless you can’t make it happen financially right now I’d just go for it now and be done with it. Being able to open the windoors has been a game changer for me. It makes snuggling down the mounting hardware every so often a lot easier.

My canopy was $3800 a few months ago here in Washington state. I also called around and most places around here were more expensive. It’s odd how each dealer has its own pricing on these things.

Ya one dealer quoted me twice the price per windoor than the one I just listed. They're actually the big dealer here in DFW and have several locations. The one I called in San Antonio told me, but could very well be bs, that he sells more than most do in Texas so he has better pricing. Is there windoors and windoor sliders? I thought I got quoted for the windoor sliders at that price but now Im not even sure. Did you do the removeable front window? I only thought of it to be able to clean the back glass on the cab but I do have the sliding window.

Yeah I have the removable front window and the sliding windoors. I figure the dogs would enjoy the breeze if they every ride back there and it’s nice to be able to get the canopy aired out if needed. I paid $269 a side for the windoors here.

Keep calling around. I saved almost $1000 on my cap by driving 300 miles. I’d recommend getting what you want the first time, otherwise you’ll pay more to get things later. I bought my ARE CX (cab height) with sportsman doors (vented screened windoors) both sides, carpet, fold down front window, led connected light, and Yakima rails and aero bars for $2600 in early 2020. Dealers around me were quoting $3500-$3800 for the same cap. Bonus the install team was phenomenal and did an outstanding job. I called probably 15 dealers in a radius. They really vary pricing a lot, and install matters as there’s a lot of effort that goes into making them reasonably weather/dust resistant on a Tacoma.

I think most people agree this inflation is going to get worse before it gets better. As much as the prices suck, I’d buy it now. I just saw a dude selling a used Leer for $3500! WTF?? I don’t think it even had windoors. Get windoors… vented if you’ll be back there, non-vented if not (they look cleaner IMO). I highly recommend keyless entry. Mine’s a Snugtop, but I imagine Leer must offer this too. In combination with the OEM remote tailgate lock, I can’t imagine not being able to open up the whole back with my key FOB.

Ya I'm gonna try some places in Oklahoma and Arkansas. I called every dealer in Dallas Fort Worth and then started looking 350 miles away. I don't mind a drive for the right deal. I drove 700 miles to get my truck home after a one way plane ticket to get there. I'd be ecstatic if could find it for around 3200 but I don't think I will. I believe base price is around 2200-2300, around 270ish per window plus all the other options i added.

does anyone know if I can add the keyless entry later? I dont have the tailgate electric lock yet either so it doesn't bother me not having it for the topper, especially when the windoors aren't on that same system. But would be nice to have the option later. I agree buy once cry once but I was hoping to wait till end of the year but with pricing going up I better pull the trigger quick.

Mine was $3200ish OTD and installed (ordered last September, got it in November). That’s with windoors, keyless entry, fold-down front slider, carpet headliner, led light, 12v usb ports, and roof rails. But there were some cosmetic paint quality issues with mine. Instead of having Snugtop fix it under warranty (which they said would be 4 months minimum due to shortages) we settled on a partial refund instead, and I would just live with it. In the end it worked out good for me I think, because the flaws aren’t too noticeable when you aren’t looking for them and they are pretty minor (just small bubbles and a few paint zits and scratches), but Snugtop agreed it was not acceptable for a brand new one, especially at what they cost these days.

On a side note, make sure you prep the bed beforehand and seal all the gaps that the factory leaves open. There are threads here on how to do it. I did mine with butyl putty tape. No topper dealer is going to seal your truck as good as you will. And once it’s on, it would be a pain in the ass to remove and re-seal.

Ok thanks, I knew they needed extra attention to have a better seal but never thought of it being hard/impossible once installed. I was asking if they had any in any color as I wanted to have a friend paint it who could match the color a little bit better than them. Being that its lunar rock they don't have any just laying around. I would've taken the refund you mentioned for a minor flaw like that. I'm picky but if it saved money or put some back in my pocket I could always touch it up later.

Yeah, I was cool with a few Benjamins back in my pocket. About the sealing, some of it you could seal with the shell on if you had too, but some of the main things you want to do is take off the front bulkhead rail and seal under it with either silicone or butyl tape, and also pop the plastic bed rails up and seal at least the corners and the first few inches under those too. Where those parts meet is where the big gaps are (some visible from the the top, and some visible only from the bottom) that need to be sealed before the install. Have a buddy shine a flashlight from outside those corners with you looking up from the bed and you’ll see there some 1/4”+ gaps to be filled.

Keep your eye out for used too. Short beds more common than long. Obviously common color more likely to find. Used they can be found for a really good deal. New they are far more expensive than they should be IMO, but they charge what they can get. Could buy an entire beater car to haul stuff in for the price of a cap….

edit see you have lunar rock, (couldn’t tell in Avi if cement are lunar) probably cross even looking for used lunar rock as just not a common color. Paint would be expensive, not sure what a wrap would be.

Locally, I just got a quote for the same spec 100XR (Windoors both sides, carpet, fold down front, rack but for a long bed) and it was $3,600ish and a 14 week wait.

Just can’t justify that price for a cap. Will buy a cheap tonneau cover and keep an eye out for a used cap…long bed, cement :/

When I first got my truck at the end of 2019 I got a quote for a short bed Leer 100XL with carpet, flip down, and interior light and it was around $2,200 painted and installed. I mistakenly decided to wait a couple years till the truck was paid off before dropping serious money on any mod. Fast forward to the end of 2021 after paying my truck off brought the quote back to my local topper dealer and they tell me $3,200 as a “deal” and up to 4 month wait. I laughed and walked out, ended up finding a brand new used Leer 100XL with the exact specs for $900. Guy bought the truck used and didn’t want it, only problem is it was light blue and my truck is cement. I bought it and stripped it down to a bare shell and sanded and repainted it myself in the garage. It’s a solid 10-15 footer garage paint job but should last and I got what I wanted for about $1100.

Ya I was thinking of doing the same but all the ones I found around DFW are wanting 2500-3500 and might as well order a new one.

Hoping that someone else see this thread cause I am willing to drive a good distance to get a better price. I’ve called all the big cities in Texas, Houston, San Antonio, Dallas & Fort Worth best price is about 3500 for all options I listed. Does anyone know of a dealer that has one someone didn’t want but is wrong color? I don’t mind having it painted if I could get around 2k also willing to give up some of the options I want for a cheaper price as the main reason I want one is for dog to stay in back and carry some stuff hidden from public. I’m gonna be placing a deposit this week before the price increase on monday.

That similar to what I got, its going up 8% on monday so I think I’m just gonna put down the 1/3 deposit cause I don’t think the price will ever drop again.

Windoors are awesome. I lucked up and found one on marketplace that matched my truck. Carpet inside, Thule rack, electric lock, sliding folding front window, etc. for $1,000 made the 5 hour round trip worth it.

Unfortunately a truck had to die for me to get it.

During hunting season I busted the drivers side glass. Called LEER and they wanted $450 for the windoor and said there was a glass shortage. I said let me think about it. He called back 10 minutes later and said it was my lucky day and they found a windoor in stock. I said nope. I got a piece of smoke polycarbonate and cut it myself for $80. You can’t tell the difference.

OP get the windoors, you’ll love them

I don't like them and have said I'd never buy one. But at these prices I may end up with a soft top on my next truck. I paid $900 for the cap on my 2007 and $1500 for the cap on my F150 back in 2016. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around $3500-$4000.
