I tried another set that broke (cheap soft plastic tab). I sent them back and had responded to a customer service email telling them i'm sending them back (through Amazon for a refund) and why.

They asked if i wanted to try an updated set and sent me the link. I said sure. I'm not paying them for the set though. But if they don't break, and work well, I'll leave a positive review which will help them sell more.

I'm still waiting for a set i ordered through Aliexpress from a company called DMEX. Theirs look (and use the exact same pictures to describe the technology) as VLED's micros. These were only $40 vs $150. However, I've been waiting for 5 weeks and still nothing so it may be for not.

probably true...mine were $40 but came with high praise for quality and light output for 1/3rd the price of most HIDs, so I'm guessing this is where the lower cost came into play. lol No biggie. I have always planned to replace them with LEDs in a year or so anyways...

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?

Second question is, if the fan on the back of these LEDs give out, it will overheat, and are you risking damaging you headlamp housing cover and/or seals? Has anyone addressed this...be it vendor or someone who has actually experienced this scenario?

Hey folks, sorry I've been out of the loop the past few days. Just wanted to update everyone on the new LED's. We had snow here in CT. Wednesday morning and, as i thought, the lenses on my headlights and my fogs were literally coated in snow within 5 minutes of driving. Visibility was dramatically reduced. I got to work and put the highs on for 10 minutes and the lenses were ice cold. These LED's produce no heat so the lenses get coated with snow quickly.
I still think it was worth switching over to the LED's though. I really love how these bulbs perform the 99.9% of the time it's not snowing.

Thanks. It snows here too. Too bad there's no way to have a heat source to warm the housings.

@Parker315 Quick question. How to tell Which Hikari bulb is 12000 and 9600?? One set come in a black box the other set came in white box. The paperwork inside the box reads both are 9600.

Yeah they put the old Hikari instruction manual in both boxes. On my instruction manual it had a sticker on it that said “old version” so I wasn’t too worried.

White box is the newer brighter ones. They have a flat LED and the old one have a domed LED.

Sorry for the late response. I’ve said this a couple times to various people and just to paint a picture and put into perspective. The fan on the back of that bulb is designed as a heat sink to keep the housing cool, Much like the heat sink fan on a computer. Can the fan go out, of course, any moving part continuously running can go out. However, how often do you see a computer fan that runs constantly as a computer is on ever go out. I’ve worked in IT for over five years and I’ve never seen a computer fan go out. Now with that said we aren’t really comparing apples to apples of course but just the concept. If the fan does go out I can’t imagine it would cause any significant damage to your headlight housing if anything the bulb itself would heat up and then cut off.

    Lol

It’s just a worry people have. I haven’t seen any real issues with the fans yet.

Very true, that's why my last set of HIDs got so hot the plastic around the mounting ring melted and the bulb fell out of the housing. Of course, Murphy's law kicked in, and the metal ring fell in the housing...

Ya... Of course I was out of town when it happened .I had to run to AutoZone and buy some halogens to get me through the rest of the weekend.

It was a set of Kensun HIDs. I've run numerous sets and never had a single issue. Apparently, their h11s have a weak point.

35w. They have a small metal ring that goes onto the headlight. The ring is plastic welded to the base. I don't run my headlights constantly, only when needed. The passenger side completely failed, and the driver side was really loose. I was noticing a lot of "bounce" in the lights. Pulled over to investigate and saw the issue. I bet the driver side would have failed in a few more hours of runtime.

Absolutely!! I wish you would have asked sooner haha. I actually took my grill back off yesterday afternoon to do some re-wiring of these. I bought some oem sytle connectors (found HERE) and some better wire (found HERE) to run to the fuse box inside the truck. I soldered everything together, used dielectric grease on the connections, and heat shrink tubing, then wrapped it all in that flex tubing for a factory look. I’ll snap some pictures later on this morning :thumbsup:
