Idk if I'm the only one but just swapped the last of my lights( plate lights) with led bulbs and had to ask the wife for help cuz my hands were to big. There's gotta be a Easyer way for someone in the future or does everyone with big hands have to lose there man card and ask there wife

There’s a way to pull out the whole light assembly and then you can replace the bulb. It’s a lot easier than trying to unplug the bulb from underneath. There are some videos on Youtube you can search for.

Push the whole assembly out from the back. Makes it much easier to change out those bulbs. You might have to use those plastic pry tools to get them out.

No matter what method you use you'll have a hard and frustrating time

I think its easier to take the bulbs out by turning the connector and pulling out.

Check Jesse Rizo on YouTube. That's the simplest method. I tried the bulb from underneath way and gauged the fuck out of my hand and thumb.. finally figured out the assembly pops out rather easy if you know which tabs to push down. The trim tool from the outside is equally a pain in the ass.

    Here's the part that helps..

Just look at it as a "bonding momement", you will get what you need done, and rack up some credits at the same time.

My lights inside I wrapped needle nose pliers in electrical tape and got those out like that. What's done is done it took the yard way but got em in. I figured this is a subject for someone like me that wanted to rip the bumper off with my bear hands cuz it was so difficult for me to change a plate light lol

It's actually really easy but if you google it the results are 10x harder than it should be. Mostly because knuckleheads saying to go from the back or underneath, like the video being shared. That is 10x the amount of effort that is actually needed here.

All you have to do is pry the tabs from the OUTSIDE. There is enough room to stick a knife in or something and then just reach under and push with your hands. You don't even need to look under there. Pretty sure the second one I did, I didn't even need to push anything I just pried the tabs and pulled outwards. Super. Simple.

You also do NOT have to wrap tape around your light bulbs inside. Pull the entire housing down. It's a couple clips. That's it.

Stop overcomplicating things guys. Pull the interior housings down and replace the bulb and pry the tabs from the cutouts on the outside of the license plate lights. I dare all you who did it the other way to go back and retry it just to see how simple it actually is. I think I am going to make some picture tutorials in the hopes of drowning out the over complicated methods that everyone here seems to be so familiar with.

With all due respect, THIS "knucklehead" (yours truly) posted an easy method without jabbing knives around the exterior plastic assembly. What you describe is acutally how I did mine, but I sure wish I had seen that 20 second clip of Rizo pressing those clips from the underside. Would have saved me some frustration. If nothing else, it at least shows where to reach under and what to feel for. Not everyone here is a master meachanic.
