I'm new here, but I thought I would show people how to do this simple install :) It might help some one so here you go !

Edit : This is being done on a Brand new 2023 TRD 4X4

Product link, no affiliation at all ! Just what I used.

    https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08NV56PBF?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

What you get in the box Lights & wiring harness with fram clips already attached.

Tool's needed : ( not side cutters & zip tes not needed, had them thought i would need them but didn't )

Take these 2 10mm bolts out, i used a wrench because easy, you can use a socket and a driver.

Un-plug this cable from the factory harness that is already here from factory, the pice that it's plugged into is a dead plug to keep the plus clean and from moving around, yes you need to also remove this because the new harness clips in here to prevent flopping around.

Remove this plastic cover on both sides.

Plus wiring harness into the LED.

Install LED into its new spot, making sure you align the release tab on the bottom and put the light into the groves at the top. Don't forget to reach in and push the wire through the hole to the tail light.

Remove the wire, as you can see the new LED wire is pushed through.

Clip the other male & female ends together and clip the the empty hole from the other Factory clip.

Tests light and then re-install tail light.

    Done, re-peat for other side.

There you have it, bed lights installed in 5 mins per side :) 15 if you take all these photos :)

Also to turn them on, use your rocker switch on left hand side of your steering wheel.

    Hope this helps someone..

great write up. unfortunately, the 19 and older do not have the harness, or plugs, and is way more labor intensive than your install. really wish one of our electronic, wiring experts would have made a plug and play harness, so we dont have to run so much wiring in our "older units". Ski

There are OEM ones for more money. Install is the same. Output doesn’t seem to differ too much from what I’ve seen which has only been pics.

The Access Cabs will not have the rocker switch (because they do not have a cargo light in the 3rd brake light housing). You must buy the switch, which costs about $60 (more than the rest of the bed light kit).

Depending on the trim level, you might also have to buy the blue relay, which sits on the firewall behind the switch panel.

    There is this:
    https://dsimsolutions.com/pages/rock-light-harness-bundles

However cutting holes to match the 2020+ bed light design is also labor intensive. A surface mount pod is less work and an OEM option does exist there, I have a set. However, they do not provide significant output so I’d advise a Matt gecko under rail kit for anyone looking to add bed lighting to a 2019 or older truck.

Combining Matt gecko rail lights with DSIM’s rock light harness gets you there but is a lot more expensive than the 2020+ crowd who can get it done on the cheap.

Because installing the pre-wired bed lights requires the most basic level of "just figure it the eff out for yourself". So low I can't even call it critical thinking or problem solving skills. If you need a tutorial it's because you didn't even try...literally zero effort. We're talking actual literal, not zoomer literal.

eh, to me literal zero effort is paying someone else to do it. It feels like a waste of time to try and figure out how to do something when there's already instructions, not just for this but for most things in general. Critical thinking/problem solving can come in handy if you want better performance or output of something, or if a procedure has never been done before and out of necessity you have to start from scratch.
