For those of you with 3rd Feb TRD Pros, how is the leather holding up? Is it wearing decently as the miles creep up?

I'm toying around with selling my '14 Baja and thinking about replacing it with a new-to-me 3rd gen TRD Pro or OR. Thing is... I prefer cloth seats in these trucks but all the used trucks I seem to be interested in have leather.

Would love to hear your thoughts as it might push me to an OR with cloth rather the a Pro with leather.

I would imagine you would have no issues finding someone to trade your leather for their cloth seats.

Mine is still brand new looking in my 17,but I don't slide off the seat like some guys do,which causes premature wear.

I remember reading about the little squares wearing off fairly quickly in some early on.

Most that have leather will also have a sunroof, so make sure you fit. That was the biggest shock for me going from the 2nd gen that was extra roomy to the 3rd with sunroofs that felt super cramped.

My 18 looks and smells new. Comes down to how you take care of it too. I clean it, conditioner it and don't slide in and out of the seats.

Glad my Pro is an 18 so I get the creature comforts inside but also get the additional headroom from not having a sunroof.

Leather seems to hold the smell of my farts a bit less.

You could always go with the cloth OR and get Clazzios if you change your mind. Cheaper than getting a Pro or the premium package with leather. Just depends on how much you want the other stuff and if you plan on getting aftermarket parts anyway.

Thanks for all the info. This is good stuff.

Great to hear this. I do love how roomy the 2nd gens are. None of the 3rd gens I've been in have had a sunroof, so this is a great tip. Thanks for the heads up.

    LOL! Ain't that the truth.

I mainly want the locker and *potentially* the Fox setup. I have Fox 2.5 resi's on my Baja and will likely take them off before I sell it, get them rebuilt/revalved (@AccuTune Offroad!!) and swap them onto the new truck. But I also like how these bone stock TRD Pro's ride so it might be totally fine as is.

Bought a used 18' Pro with leather and no sunroof, the seats are a bit worn but not too bad. Im honestly not a fan of the leather, has a cheap pleather feel to it compared to leather seats in a lexus or a high end make. I'd prefer the synthetic cloth in my old 2005 OR.

Don't get me wrong, I love my truck, but being 6'1 I don't feel huge, but sitting in the sunroof Tacoma's I apparently am.

I went out looking at Taco's on dealer lots today. I've purposely stayed away from 3rd gens as I haven't wanted to be tempted by the interior. I love the dash, door panels, etc. but on brand new trucks, didn't love the leather. Though after reading THIS POST apparently the seats aren't actually leather. :notsure:

You'd be hard pressed to find genuine leather anymore. Maybe the really high end manufacturers. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing. It will probably hold up very well.

However on warm days driving my wife's RAV4 with the "leather", I sweat like crazy on my back and I'm the type that can mountain bike for 2 hours and barely sweat. It never happens when driving my truck because I have the cloth seats that doesn't mimic sitting on a plastic bag.

The OR has the rear locker as well and AFAIK it's not any different than the Pro in that regard. So it really comes down to on if you're going to stick with the stock Fox suspension on the Pro or not. I see a lot of people get a Pro then upgrade to Kings then get new wheels and tires, so they basically spent the extra money on the extra stuff that isn't hard to find like the exhaust, intake, shift knob, etc. To each their own but IMO the reason to get a Pro is to not replace any of that stuff.

That's the main reason I like cloth seats. To each, their own and all that, but that's pretty much the main reason why I like cloth - they are cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter when you first get in.

I actually like all the kit that comes along with the Pro. The shocks / coilovers, the grill, wheels, etc. Even the fake hood scoop! But if I end up putting my Fox 2.5 stuff on the Pro, defeats the purpose a bit. The leather seats are another factor in the pros/cons matrix while trying to narrow down my search to a particular kind of 3rd gen.

The stock cloth seats in my OR are not wearing well and I have 1500 miles. It seems like the lower bolster shows scuffing discoloration. I try not to drag my ass across the bolster either. I'd have to point it out for anyone to notice, but the stock cloth is coming out later this winter and i'm switching to Roadwire Leather
