I'm new to the the forum but wanted to share my experience, which was exhausting, in hopes you will help find a solution quickly.

I Never had a single issue with my 2011 Tacoma DoubleCab TRD Off Road until 2 weeks ago. When it stalled on the highway and continued to bog down under acceleration. I managed to nurse it home and pulled the P0171/P0174 codes. I went through a myriad of troubleshooting using common sense and the forums. I started with the quickest and cheapest solutions. Nothing worked. Took it to my mechanic and he ran a fuel pressure test which he said came back normal. He gave me back a broken truck and I continued to troubleshoot. Being in Both Banks, led me to a general fuel pressure problem and not air or injectors.

After I found out the Tacoma fuel pump and strainer are together in the tank, I suspected the strainer had something on it and would clamp on tighter with higher demand. I bought a new pump strainer assembly on Amazon and had it installed. That fixed the problem and Truck runs like new. I asked for the original pump back so I could dissect it at home. If you want to see what is inside your tank after 100K miles, you'll can view my video I made about this issue. You can also youtube search "tacoma p0171 and p0174 solved"

I need a chemist or someone to tell me what the heck type of sediment that is. I even thought, since the gas cap isn't lockable, that maybe this was sabotage and someone put sand in my tank. Weird.

I don't think it was sabotage as there was a member on here a month or so ago had the exact same thing. He described it "as sand from the gas."

Wow! Mine (at 65k miles) had none of that, just pump failure.
    Two things I'd do?
First get that analyzed, that's weird shit.
Second change where I buy my gas.

    Thanks for posting.

Good job. I hope you find out what it is and post back. Also, did you burn top tier gas on a regular basis or the cheapest you could fine? Search top tier gas.

Must be the same as you.

Just got sent this post because my truck is throwing the same codes and it killing me. Gonna try the fuel pump as nothing else has fixed the problem. As for the white stuff on the fuel pump- I’d say ethanol. I restore little Honda dirtbikes that I pick up after they’ve been forgotten for years and that is what I see in nearly EVERY carburetor I tear apart to rebuild. Ethanol is some evil crap.
