So its been raining very hard all day today here in Tennessee. When i got in my truck there was a big puddle in the passenger floor board. I looked quickly and best i could see was water was running down a wire and dripping to the center of the floor board.

But by the time I drove home and got in there to look I couldnt see any side of the water. I looked at the wire where I had seen the drips but no wires were wet and no drips anywhere to give me a lead. I took the glovebox out and looked all around but no luck. Popped the hood and look around but nothing stood out

Anyone ever see something like this? Any ideas?

Do you have ditch lights? Ive seen this with trucks equipped with ditch lights that require trimming of the cowl. The cowl wont get seated properly an the water drips thru where the cabin filter housing/hoses to the floor.

I have a similar issue but not exactly the same. When I pull my passenger weathertech to vacuum, there is condensation between the carpet and the mat, which is also a bit concerning.

not the windshield and no ditch nights but i had wandered if it was coming in from the cabin air filter area. I will pop the hood and make sure the plastic is seated properly.

This that and the other thing.
I would pull the cabin air filter and see what it looks like, if it looks like it has been getting wet or something of the like. might even be worth pulling the windshield cowling off and having a look to see if maybe there is a pin hole down there or something where water might be coming in

I had the same issue. Water running off the windshield into the cabin air intake underneath the plastic trim. Fixed it by taking a piece of sheet metal and forming it into a cover for the hole. Havent had a drop since.

rained all night...got in the truck this morning and dry as a bone...i didnt change or fix anything. Im guessing that I must have been parked at just the right angle yesterday at work that allowed the large amounts of puddled water to run inside somehow. I parked in the different area today and its raining still. I'll check at lunch and see if any water has made its way in

Did you find the cabin air filter or fan housing wet or moldy? I have the same kind of leak and the filter and fan were dry, no rust or water stains found. I found the "sealer" used around the air intake curb under the cowl to be porous. I coated that seam with autobody seam sealer. I'm not sure if I still have the leak. The carpet and floor pan were soaked under weathertech mat. I may try the sheet metal cover too. The air conditioning drain was clear and all body plugs in place. No holes added by me. I can't believe that gappy cowl to windsheild gasket is all that stops water from pouring into the cabin air intake.

Make sure to clean all the crap out from the air intakes under the hood. Also, there is a drain... somewhere. If it got plugged up with crap, there won't be anywhere for the water to go except into the cab.

Yes, the area below the plastic cowl drains out through holes near the fender corners. I did find some maple tree seed pods and other debris stuck in the drain holes. I cleaned them out and ran the hose in there. The water came out the bottom of the fender on the passenger side in my case.I park pitched slightly forward and more tilted to the passenger side in the driveway.

I was having the same problem as my passenger floorboard would fill up with water only when it rained. I couldn't find any place where it was coming in so I took it to the shop and they did the leak test for the windshield and found the leak. Aftermarket windshield and so far no more leaks. Most shops in my area were around the same price give or take a few dollars.

Update: We had almost three inches of rain plus snow this week, floor was SOAKED again. I pulled door sill trim and the kick panel off. I pulled back the carpet, floor was soaked under carpet. I ran the water hose from mid windshield and had my son look inside. Two solid streams of water flowing from under the dashboard in line with the heater air intake and pooling on the floor.I have a 1/16 gap in the cowl to windshield trim gasket. The water was flowing between the cowl gasket and the windshield, right off the windshield into the heater intake and coming out on the floor AND the condensate drain tube at the same time, It was NOT leaking from the blower motor housing. I made sheet metal shield similar to above to cover the heater intake and reinstalled the cowl with sealant between the windshield and the cowl gasket. I proved the leak first by putting duct tape over the cowl to windshield joint and running the water again. No water entry.

I think this will solve the issue. How can there not be a TSB or recall on this? I cannot believe how poor this design is. How can that be the ONLY seal? That cowl warps away from the windshield in places like over the air intake and leaks like a sieve. We have been getting tropical type downpours regularly all year and there is no way this setup cannot leak over time.

As for the mold and mildew, I mixed up a pail of hot water and lysol and poured it on the passenger side carpet after removing the floor drain plugs. I let it soak for about an hour and the sucked up the remaining water with a green machine cleaner. It smells better for sure.

Update: Again, we had about 3 inches of rain in heavy downpours this week. So far the floor is dry. I think the windsheild cowl sealant did the trick . The sheet metal shield is a backup. There was a persistant mold smell. I soaked the floor and carpet with about a quart of a pre-mixed disinfectant, in gallon form, from Home Depot. I left it wet for a week and then vacuumed up with a wet/dry vac. It had no effect on the carpet color and the smell is very faint if anything now that it is dry. The next two days should be warm and dry. I'll put the weathertech mat back on Wednesday I think.

I had the same issue and could not figure it out for a long time. Eventually I realized it was coming in through the bolt holes on the roof used to secure the roof rack. I guess there is a path for water from those holes to the floorboard. Do you have a roof rack or exposed bolt holes? It's an easy thing to check. Even if you don't, just remove the rubber gaskets on the roof rack channels and check to make sure the bolt holes are not open. If they have never been used they will have a thin foam/tape seal over them
