    Hey guys,

I’m sure most of you have gotten the leaf spring recall done on your second gen. I took my truck in to get the recall done and it has been the biggest struggle trying to get it done. I have a 6in lift on my truck with a block in the rear and that should not effect the leaf springs in anyway. The dealership in Chico Ca is gonna replace it but is charging me an extra 150 bucks to put the block back on. From my understanding, they do not have to touch the block at all, has anyone else had to deal with this?

    Thanks!

Yeah. They can tell you to take it back to stock before they touch it. At least they are offering an option.

Lol. A 6 inch block doesn't effect a leaf spring in any way...hahahahahahahah. it's been a slow day, I needed a good laugh

    You have options.

    1) Pay the $150 and keep your hands clean.

    2) Take them out, drive in with your temporary bro looking lift, and put them back after the springs are replaced.

    3) Order real springs for your truck, ditch the blocks, give or sell the new OE springs to someone in need.

Try to get the dealer to give you the old springs if you can. Knife makers like that material sometimes.

:gossip: pssst. No need to leave. It's ok to read and post in multiple forums. Some topics are just 'vehicle related' and really have little to do with a generation. Like this thread.

How exactly would they replace the leaf spring without touching the block that the spring sits on?

As others have suggested, pay the $150 or remove the blocks yourself. You will most likely need new U bolts if you remove the blocks (unless they have enough threads to tighten them down without the blocks). New U bolts will set you back about $50 and you should replace them once you put the blocks back on so you save $50 by doing yourself ($100 in savings if you can reuse the U bolts that are on there currently with the blocks removed) . At that point the question is, what's your time worth?

@clearwaterbill thanks for the advice. I guess some of you misunderstood my question. The leaf springs obviously wear more because of the blocks. I get that blocks are the cheap shitty way to lift a truck, and I understand that. The question I’m trying to ask is, would it really take them 150 dollars worth of time to uninstall and install the rear block if they have to switch out the springs for free anyways? The springs should just be sitting on them right? No need to be a douche about it @Bell214b if you don’t have any good advice or feel like educating someone, please leave the dick in your ass and go somewhere else

@Bell214b Whatever man, this isn’t a ford forum, we shouldn’t be here making dumbass comments that waste peoples time. If you’re gonna be a prick about it go do it somewhere else.

Epoxy or weld the blocks in place so they won't have to touch them.

Just curious if there was another dealership close by you could get a comparison. I know some don't even like to look at anything other than stock. I've got some weird ones where I live so pretty much used to the "inconvenience fee".
