I have searched and unsuccessfully found… what I thought was a TW post with a list of tires sizes that fit both 16” and 17” tires without the need for a CMC or anything else.

Can anyone point me in this direction? Or tell a brother the largest tire I can slap on my 16” wheel?

    (And no… I don’t want a 17” wheel).

Take the info you get here with a grain of salt. Most people that say they have no issues going one tire size up from factory don't have mud flaps, or maybe never drive their trucks on anything other than smooth pavement.

He'll be fine with 265s just like everyone else.

No rub on OEM mudguards but did get run on Tuskinz.

This is a Pro rim with +13 offset. The OR offset is +25 which will more than likely work just fine without rub on after market mudguards if you run those.

    I run aftermarket mud flaps.

    I run 1.25" wheel spacers.

Truck has left the mall parking lot a few times.

Slightest bit of rubbing turned driver ~1/2 a rotation and going up a curb. Mud flap only.

This is the correct answer, if by largest you mean biggest diameter. There's an entire (long) thread about putting 255/85R16's (or 33"x10") on stock TRD Offroad wheels, I believe most people remove their front factory mud guards to avoid rubbing but otherwise they seem to work well for everyone who has tried them. Also field tested like @MR E30.

Shall I muddy the waters a bit more?

    P rated? Or LT.

Let’s say you carry a 300lb cap, Fridge/w/slide, awning and about 4 humans (400lbs) plus 400lbs of gear extra. ive been running P rated. But have not carried the RTT and gear full time like I will now. So an extra 300lbs all the time.

Enough to pay an extra 20% for LT?
Tires will be Falken Wildpeak AT3

And that’s exactly my point. With 265/70/R17 and OEM mud flows, YOU WILL RUB some, even though tons of people here claim you won’t.

Ya mean to fit on the wheel or to fit on the truck?

The ones that have rubbing have the old SEMA wheels. Stock wheels with 265/75R16 and mud flaps will not rub even at full lock or suspension stuff.

staying as close to the control arm as possible is key. a 285/75r16 will clear everything without even having a lift. a 3/4" wheel spacer with stock offroad wheel can achieve this. actually depending on the specific tire and how aggressive the sidewall lugs are no spacer at all is needed. i daily drove with that setup for quite a while before adding 2" wheel spacers.
