OK so I tried looking through the search option but couldn’t find much on extended/larger gas tanks I was considering putting the larger tank on for long trips. And not having to carry gas cans on the roof and everything I’m trying to keep the truck simplistic on the outside. Does anybody have aLong range fuel tank., The other thing is I’m in California and I’m wondering if the stupid state is going to come down on me for having changed my gas tank. It’s also very strong or so I have heard. Any input or pros/cons would be helpful! Looking at something like this.

if its not plumbed & ‘ vented ‘ properly on the feed & return side

it was a little lucky because i had stumbled upon that thread a couple days ago and made a comment in it, so it appeared in my 'recent posts' section on my profile. in the future you can try searching for the specific brands like "long range automotive" or something similar.

as far as deleting this thread, i am not the authority on that and i really dont know the best practices.

I usually just search extended tank and its what comes up. I've gone through that thread a couple times. From what I remember, LRA won't ship to California but I could be wrong.

What works for me is google. Let’s say I wanna know what’s the largest tire size on a stock taco with no rub. Ha!
I would type: “largest tire size on a stock Tacoma Tacoma world” Works everytime.

When you type “Tacoma world” at the end of whatever you are searching, it will actually provide all the links from this website.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
CA law = You can not alter your fuel tank.

Now... the question is, will the smog tech even look? But the law says you can not alter it. You can replace with equivalent, but you can not alter it by changing sizes, location, etc, etc.

You can do an auxiliary tank that feeds the original tank. Lots of agriculture guys and heavy equipment guys, that have the fuel transfer in their bed, have it set up on a float to feed their original tank.

If you do it like this on Google it will only look on and give results from Tacomaworld (or whatever site you tell it to).

largest tire size on a stock tacoma site:www.tacomaworld.com

While I like the idea of the larger tank, it probably makes the taco-lean worse and is a fairly expensive mod.
Now if it ADDED 33 gallons and sat on the passenger side I wouldn't be able to get my plastic out fast enough.

My F150 has a 36 gallon tank and I like having it. But the only time it is helpful is when towing and getting 10 mpg. The extended range is minimally helpful otherwise. I've driven it close to 600 miles on a tank before, but normally stop enough for other things that the range isn't needed. It is sorta nice to keep driving through places with higher prices and fill up in areas with better prices. But even that isn't common.

My Tacoma will easily go 300-350 miles on a tank of fuel. That is enough range for me. I've driven it on multiple cross country road trips and never felt the factory tank was a disadvantage. I just don't see the benefits of a larger tank being worth the costs and other negatives on a Tacoma. If it came from the factory with something around 25-26 gallons that would be nice for the guys who tow. But I can't justify the expense of an aftermarket tank. In addition to the cost you have the weight of a larger tank plus the added weight of the fuel. On a truck with very little payload to begin with.

All good points thank you for your input… the cost is a bit outrageous..
