Anyone ever swapped out their OE tank for a larger one? Couldn’t find anything about the 1st gens and putting in a larger tank in the archives. Anyone??

    Thanks,

    -Cody

There have been a couple threads about installing a 2nd tank where the spare tire mounts, but i have not seen anything about a replacement tank.

I followed BossFoss’s example and stuck a Ford F-150 tank there.

Fantastic! I just did a trip to Baja in November and a trip to Death Valley last weekend. Long range never gets old.

    How’s your tank doing?

Have you ever over filled the stock tank?

It's good I enjoy having it. Pretty much drove from here in wyo to Phoenix on a tank of gas last year, thought that was cool.

Lol yeah a couple times  Usually when I'm out off roading and concentrating on the road and forget it's on. I Need to think of some way to limit how long it runs with each press of the switch.

I keep telling myself I'm going add dry quick releases in the fuel line from the aux tank to the stock tank so I can refuel another vehicle like a motorcycle but have yet to do it.

I would love to do this but I think I'm too lazy. Basically program a chip to read the ohms off both the stock tank and the aux tank. When the stock tank gets down to half full the chip turns the aux tank on until the stock tank is at 3/4 full then shuts off. The chip would turn the whole system off when the aux tank becomes empty. I'd have to have a bypass so you can run the pump in the aux tank.

Oh yeah, the only other issue I have is I get a CEL from time to time. The rollover valve on the top of the aux tank needs a new o-ring. I can drop the tank in about 5 minutes so I really don't have a good excuse for not fixiing that.
