Aren’t you from Texas? Nobody pays attention to turn signals, a ufo could land in front of them and you would get the same look when somebody sees a turn signal.

    :rofl::rofl:
Born and raised right here in Capital City.

While that's true, I don't want to meet with any law enforcement officers anymore. Got enough of that when I was younger.

Law enforcement is the poster child for not using turn signals or obeying and of the laws they enforce. But whatever you do, don’t break the speed limit in small Texas towns. Giddings, and el campo are the worst.

For sure, but I also want the lady (or man) driving next to me to know I'm coming over.

I know what ya mean. I had a 2018 Tacoma that had the feature. Now in a 2018 4runner without it and it took some time to get used to not having it again.

I didn't like it at first but then came to rely on it and eventually loved the feature.

I have the Smart Tap flasher and I really like all the other features it provides, but I never use the lane change feature. Maybe I'm a ham fisted neanderthal, but for me it takes more conscious effort to only push it part way, rather than to just slam that bitch in the direction I intend to go. Canceling it is easy. You just tip your finger forward and let it bump the lever as you're turning back the other direction.

While I find most of these technologies as hokum, I will say that I'm proud of all of you who care about signaling a lane change, regardless of how you do it.

Too many don't. Ever. Even when turning on surface streets. It's almost like they don't know they exist.

I was just seeing if there was an easy way to do it. I'm not willing to spend $100 to do it. I drive a lot on the Interstates here. It's just when you get use to driving a vehicle that has this feature you don't realize the Tacoma don't have it until you give a half signal and merge over. Makes me feel like a jackass when I do it. I didn't mean to start such a debate as to weather it is a needed feature or not. If we only talked about what we "need" 95% of Tacoma World wouldn't exist. I was just picking the minds of TW users.

I still don’t get what this is, but in any event, most people don’t use turn signals even if they cross 4 lanes of traffic within 100ft of their exit on the highway

It allows you to bump your signal indicator without turning it all the way on. After it flashes 3-4 times it shuts off automatically.

would also be interested in modding the tacoma to have this feature. Had it on my old audis, very nice feature.

on the old s4 it was one touch that didnt fully "click" the turn signal, and you would get 3 blips out of it. Great for interstate driving.

and seriously a guy with a 6" lift complaining about the utility of a mod? lol

Yes there is a difference between signaling for a lane change and signaling for a turn.
CA law requires signal to begin 5 seconds before the actual lane change is begun, and until it is completed... which nobody does. So the 3-flash or 5-flash options still need to be pressed more than once.
I think the options should be 5-flash or 10-flash.

What does a 6 inch lift have to do with turn signals?

If you do not have DRL, you just remove the necessary stuff to get to the back of the fusebox and then swap out the flasher.

If you do have DRL, you need to buy the grey plastic jumper block, remove the Y harness and install the Smart Tap flasher and the grey jumper block. Here is a thread that goes into very good detail on how to install DRL. That's not what you want to do, but the disassembly instructions are there.

Up here in the north east - especially inside the 495 corridor - using your blinker is a sign of weakness.
