More work done. I might add landscaping lights soon but with the ground frozen and materials gone this is probably it for improvements until spring.

Everything is always a work in progress. The excavating contractor would do nothing extra as part of their work, even if I wanted them to do less as the something extra. I wanted them to spread the loam starting 4 feet away from the foundation but they would not do it. Pro: I have extra loam to use for raised beds and other areas. Con: I have to remove the loam and transport it myself.

Since there is not one rock natively on our land that is bigger than a grain of sand any stone work has to be completed with what ever stones I find and bring onsite. The rocks around the planting areas are not completed but I have run out of material. And they have just literally been dropped where they are with minimal adjustment as I did not have the best weather or enough time to set them so they look the best. But I promised the significant other that I would not leave them in a pile alongside the driveway for the winter.(And they were right where we plow snow piles). The long term plan is to build the retaining stones around the planting beds a little bit higher then they are right now and then cover the crushed stone with rounded river rocks of various sizes. Maybe I can find or create some landscaping art to add some visual interest.

After landscaping at our previous property I like to think I have learned a few things. So I am choosing very specific plants that will not grow to cover windows, impede on the foundation and require extensive maintenance. Each place the lawn meets a planting bed it will be possible to mow over the edge of the grass so that no grass trimming is required. I want to be able to take out the riding mower and be completely done in less than an hour. It will be required to mulch once a year and probably a day of pruning once or twice a year. The house is surrounded by woods so keeping the setting natural looking and even using wild plants and bushes in the landscape will be the goal. Thanks for looking....more to come....

Nothing but crusty ass snow in the yard now. Bought landscaping lights in the fall but Amazon sent ne a damaged shipment and before the replacement could arrive the ground froze.

I do not have a rock on the property bigger than a fine grain of sand, unless I had it brought here or brought it here myself. Having some rocks to "harvest" would be nice!

Feel free to stop by...I'll supply the shovel. I can't dig a hole for a mailbox post without hitting something the size of a Buick. It's why we don't have a pool.

I also pulled up a tree stump in the back yard I’ll be adding more pictures as I do more with my mini EXCAVATOR at the farm and camp . It’s small around 1 ton so making trails at camp are going to take forever but will get done also we will be adding a culvert and gate at backend of camp
