So I just bought a house in Elsinore late last year. Been trying to find the good spots for some MTB action but haven't found much that I like. I was living in OC before I moved out here and got spoiled with all the good riding; Whiting Ranch, Aliso Creek, Newport Coast, etc. I was hoping to get together with some local people out here to learn the good riding spots. I've tried out "Skyline" in Corona and its alright but not great. And I hit up Greer Ranch in Menifee, but I'm not familiar with the area so it wasn't that great. Someone let me know where the good local trails are!

Thanks for the input guys... Just watched some videos of these trails, I've seen guys on Sam Hill before (just didn't know what the trail was called) and it looks pretty intense as well as skid marks. You gotta have 2 vehicles to ride those though... If anyone is riding those trails hit me up so I can tag along or drive.

You have skidmarx. Starts from the top of ortega hwy goes all the way down to grand ave. Helps having someone driving you to the top of the hill and meeting you at the base. About a 2000ft elevation change.

Also another riding spot in temecula by the golf course on Rainbow valley blvd. It's ok. Kinda slippery hard pack DG.

Watching these videos of skidmarx makes me think maybe my bike isn't right for it... I've got a Giant Trance 2. 150mm Fox fork and 140mm rear suspension. Think I'd be ok on that trail?

You can roll over or skip the big stuff. I don't remember any jumps throwing you into the flats. Guys do it with hard tails on occasion. There is a handful of smaller stuff to do. Pretty cool ride to do.

OMG this video made me laugh so hard.

Trail looks like fun. Ride to the top makes things so nice.

as long as there isn't any gnarly drops you should be solid. It also helps to set up your rebound right so you don't get bucked too bad when you hit the bigger stuff. From the looks of it you could run that with a hardtail.

Skidmarx is a good trail. Will not disappoint. Could push your bike to the top. That takes about an hour if you don't have a "taxi"

Check out Greer Ranch in Temecula. Tons of awesome flowy trails that all link together. Not the biggest riding area, but a ton of fun stuff to keep you occupied. I live right next to Whiting, so I ride Whiting almost daily, the luge, Santiago Oaks, Laguna, etc. But the trails at Greer are some of the funnest in the area in my opinion, very well laid out.

fellow DHer here. what kind bikes are ya'll riding??

(my OC DHER thread in here didnt seem to really take off) but seeing all the talks of SKids and Sam Hill tickled me a little bit.

just went out to sam hill yesterday. it is in terrible shape right now from the last rain. super rutted out. top half is unrideable and lots of hiking down... sucked.

    coming off a '13 Glory0, to a '16 SantaCruz V10 27.5 here

I ride a 6" bike so I do a bit of both - capable of getting pretty rowdy on the small bike haha. I mostly pedal up to go down anymore though.

Here's my ride. '17 Giant Trance 2. Like T Mac I like the workout of the climb before I get to hit the DH sections. Most of the reason I love Whiting...
